Tach seems off

Tach seems off
I just installed an autometer tach. it works fine but when i first start it up it seems to be off then it jumps down and reads right. it will start out at like 2000 rpm and idle there for a while then jump to 1500 then operate normal. Why does it jump?

cause your car is cold at first when you start it.
mine does pretty much the same thing when i first start the car up after
its been sitting for awhile.
