Synthetic Oil in a 03 Civic EX?
I used the search function and could not find much info on using full synth oils on Honda Cars.
Do folks switch to full synth at the very first oil change? Or is it not the norm for Hondas.
I have been running full synth (Mobil 1 5w30) on my VW Jetta 1.8T ever since its first change and i drive the Civic much much more than the Jetta (about 350 miles a week). So should i switch to synth or synth blend on its first oil change for the civic too?
Also the manual says that the first change is only due at 10K miles, since I put in a lot of miles it, should I change sooner?
Thanks

Synthetic blend is a ripoff, since no manufacturer actually provides the proportion of synthetic oil to the conventional oil. Could be 1%, could be 99%, but still most likely 1%. You might as well run conventional with one drop of synthetic - that would make it a "blend".
You don't want to run your oil for more than 5k, regardless whether it's conventional, blend, or synthetic.

Thanks guys will change oil at 5K.
But the second part of the question still remains? Do folks use Synthetic in their Civis (or Hondas in General) or do folks stick with Dino.

I have a 98 ex and I just switched to Mobil 1 and i haven't had any problems. Actually feels like it runs better.
