Synchromesh....will it help kill the grind in 3rd?
I have a 92 VX hatch with 134k on the body, not sure when the clutch was done last (if ever) but it still feels like it has a good amount of life. It grinds when shifting from 2nd to 3rd at around 5-6k RPM. It only started doing this a few weeks ago. It's a slight grind, nothing terrible. It won't grind at a lower RPM. I've heard this has a lot to do with clutch wear and synchros. I've also read quite a bit about Synchromesh MT oil and synchro grinding dissapearing. Have you guys had any experience with Syncromesh and has it been positive?

Worked for me, it was grinding so bad I used to skip third gear completely and feather it into fourth. When we put it in we were told it usually takes a couple of days to lube up everything. Havn't had a grind since putting it in. Its worth the $45.

23623-P21-315 #007 SLEEVE SET, SYNCHRONIZER (3-4) $162.83
this is the replacement part you need. totally kill the grind, dont bandaid it.

Most people dont need to change the syncros, if u try syncromesh and the grind goes away your good, but if theres not improvement then yeah, time to change the syncro's

that gives me a good idea of what I need to do. I wanted to hear some success stories before I bought some and put it in. Are you guys using the Pennzoil or some other brand? Curious...

like this dude said, it covers it up well, like a bandaid. Thats like a dog taking a **** and putting newspapers on it, it doesnt fix anything, just masks it.
I just hope you don't sell your car saying that the tranny has no grinds, thats all.
