Switching to synthetic oil
I have a 94 honda civic dx 170,000 miles, and I was wondering if it is reasonable to switch to synth. I have read some bad things about it, how it causes leak and adds sludge. I was wondering if that is true. Please help so if it is reasonable I can change it this weekend.

Re: Switching to synthetic oil (drew102)
I wouldn't change with that many miles unless you have already changed your gaskets and seals.

I'd recommend that you consider something like castrol syntec blend which is a blend of synthetic and conventional oil.
