sway bar rear lca mounting Q
Ok so i'm thinking about getting swaybars.
now i've got a cx.
usually what ppl do is swap out their rear lcas for teg lcas right?
now i've been looking, and basically your just swapping them out so you get that swaybar mounting hole.
so couldnt I just drill the hole??
assuming I got it in the right position it should be perfect right?
anyways lmk.

actually it depends on which sway bar kit you get.. if you get a progress, you won't need to swap your lca at all becuase that kit mounts differently, but if you were to get an type r other kits, (say comptech) you'd need that hole in the lca.
this might help you out.

yeah I'm thinking about the neuspeed 19mm rear swaybar, for EG.
pretty sure it goes into a hole on the lca.
so drilling the hole is safe and sturdy and all that? Thats what I'm worried about the most.
Any tips on getting the holes in the exact proper position?

Re: (=GAMEOVER=)
i drilled mine, but i wouldve gotten integra LCAs if i wouldve done it all over again! the drilled holes are fine, even after 3 autoXs.. just be sure you mount up the bar and mark the LCAs perfect. oh and make sure the car is on a level surface. it helps

any tips on doing it?
do you have to tap it too, or just a straight thru hole?

Re: (Tad)
just be sure to mark the location. use a punch, and get a good bit. begin drilling. it actually doens't take that long to get through them. just be sure you clear the little lip on the LCA... youll want to to try to get the hole at the most center point in the LCA..

so the hole doesnt have to be tapped?
complete center? as in side to side and top to bottom center?

No tapping necessary, the sway bar end link bolt goes through and you'll need a lock nut. i'd still recommend the SRR lca, but the teggies would work as well. just don't get the ITR lca.. you'll need a completely different setup for the struts.

Re: sway bar rear lca mounting Q (Tad)
Keep in mind that used LCA's are abundant and easy to find. Granted I'm not running a rear sway on my beater CX, but when I did the suspension, I needed new rear LCA's (typical 'rear shock bolt being fused to LCA bushing' problem).
I bought some nice used ones for 50 shipped w/ 2-day air. EG Si LCA's probably aren't much more difficult to find.
just a thought.

yeah not tough to find,
but its another 50bux onto the price,
and it means I have to take off my old lca's

Re: sway bar rear lca mounting Q (Tad)
Changing out LCA's is no biggie--especially if you've got the shocks unbolted already. The other 2 bolts on each LCA tend to come off much easier than the shock bolt in my experience.
Since you're from Cali, your bolts probably don't seize up like hte do in the Northeast, so maybe drilling them out is a better choice. However, my logic is that suspension is a bad place to cut corners.

yeah my bolts are good as gravy,
car has lived in cali its whole life.
I just figured its easier to punch a hole in the lca than spend 50bux on new lca's, unbolt the old and bolt in the new..
those bolts can be pesky to line up but yeh.. guess i shouldnt cut corners..
HOWEVER,
the EK lcas look like all they are is just a drilled hole in the same lca..

Re: (Tad)
Yeah, the EK ones look like you could just drill through.
I'm guessing the EG ones are reinforced in some way where the hole is. I could be wrong there.
