Default swapping y7 mani to y8

Will all the hoses match up when I go to swap my y8 mani onto my d16y7?

Because I am converting to OBD1 and the y8 mani has the 2 wire iacv that i need, not the 3 iacv that the d16y7 has. But all the coolant hoses and all that stuff. Will it hatch up?

isn't the y8 obd2? just curious

but to answer your question...they should match up. Worse case scenario, u probably just have to extend or cut some coolant lines. Coolant lines are cheap anyways.

yea, they are. But the d16y7 , and I think the auto ex are the only 3 wire iacv's . So I thought why not swap the intake mani.

The main coolant hoses will line up. Some you will need to fab up; cut them to length... etc. And make sure to get the wiring correct when installing your new ecu. There is a diagram on h-t somewhere for the ecu pin outs

yea but If i got the conversion harness, and a obd1 ecu. I wouldnt have to do the pin out. Because converting the oacv to a 2 wire would just make that one wire not send a signal. So I think that would work?

If you are getting a complete ex engine harness, then no you will not have to de-pin anything. If you are keeping the y7 harness, then you will need to find the conversion harness diagram, on honda-tech, then actually sit down and de-pin the harness. Its only removing two wires, then putting one wire where another one was. Then you get to solder in the clip for the two wire iacv. Simple if you have the diagram and have some common knowledge.

and also if ur just changing the manifolds, u'll need to seal up the the little pin holes that are above the runners where the fuel injectors sit. if u look at the mani so u can see up the runners, u'll see the holes im talking about. theres 1 hole per runner. if u dont u'll have a severe vacuum leak like i did. i beat my self crazy when i did this to my girls car and swapped gaskets so many times till i realized about the holes. just lookin out...

What do you mean by runners? Where are they located, the holes?

this is my mani. I dont know where the 2 lines in the rear run. The iacv lines.

also where are the holes you are talking about on there?

Look for IACV fix below. You move a pin from one connector to the another postion and leave one wire out.

RP17 and RP18 values:
Auto to Manual:
remove RP17 and RP18
replace RP18 with a jumper wire

yeah if u have a 2-wire u still have to repin but he has a three wire and it will not work unless he has the auto comp

this just tells u that ur stock auto or non-vtec wire harness can be repinned to accept the 2-wire vtec iacv

if u have the auto manifold with the three wire iacv solenoid u r screwed and must get a manual vtec one

I did this swap on my car twice. If you have an Y8 from an auto it will not have the IACV on the back so you can use your stock TB. All the hoses match. You need extend wires-pull back the insulation on a few sensors. If you get a manual y8 you will need to use a diffrent Tb and repin the ecu and wire a IACV 2 wire. Its sounds alot harder than it is. I found everything the hard way because I started with an auto manifold than went to a manual with an obd1 ecu. Any questions-Pm me!!

correct but the auto manifold also doesnt have the holes to mount the 2 wire iacv. b/c it tb mounted on the auto

so u still need the manual y8 manifold

He's swapping to obd1 so he needs to do a repin anyway. I have a Z6 IM but same difference. I am in the process of swapping a Y8 IM and head to my Y7 next week. I have this burned to memory...

That is all correct!! If you have a manual Y8 maniold make sure you repin the ecu for Obd1 specs, and convert the harness to IACV to two wire. It is all really easy.

?!

Make sure you are looking at the connector the way i's oriented in the pic. If you don't see it flip it over and look again. The wire color should held. IOW, Remember what wire color is B6 if that is what you are looking for.

Alright I got everything goin besides the wiring. I am just running the wires from the sensor right to the conversion harness. I know I am going to use b23, but where does the other wire go to? I am trying to get this done right this second, so if anyone has any knowledge...please help me

Here are some pics I took of the B harness. The first picture with the red wire sticking up is B6. The second picture I am holding B23. It says on the diagram there is nothing in b23, and also both wires do not match the colors on the sensor(blue/black, yellow/black). Is there any diagrams for a P05 ecu to show all the pinouts, or at least the iacv? Same with for a d16y7. whatever ecu that may be?

Why are you doing this? The wire you need is already there running from the sensor to the ECU. I didn't have to do this

Just a sanity check: you said a Y8 intake manifold (IM) to a Y7 engine right?

BUT, what generation Civic is this?

Let's take a step back here.

Not sure if you have done this to find the right pin but look at the connector from the back (where the wires come from) and the front (where the sockets for the pins go into) to search for the wires you need. This was confused me too since I wasnt sure if I was to read it from the front of the connector or the rear.

My cousin borrowed my Hanes and I had that marked up. My Helms is a little harder to read otherwise I can just read you the wire colors.
