Default swapping v-tec into a non v-tec b18a1

im new to the whole honda scene guys, and i just picked up a 1992 hatchback in right good condition.. but as you may notice on a quest for power, that little d15 non vtec won't do much unless you superdeck it, build up with JE and push 40 psi , so on my luck, i found a mint condition b18a1 non vtec engine, for 250$ with 20k on it. (im a luckey bastard) and i wanna know what i need to swap it into the civic, ie tranny ecu etc, and what i would need to swap that engine into a vtec engine.. i know i need a new head, but im wondering if it would be alot less money to run a different cam, seeing as i live on the highway, and i need some decent fuel economy.. any ideas ladies and gents?

with the b18's gearing, you'll have no trouble with fuel economy.

as far as what you'll need, look at the upper right hand corner and click search.

if your b18a1 has the tranny it originally came with, you WILL need to get a hydro one. 20k on a b18a1 is pretty impossible IMO. they stopped making those in 93. so im pretty sure the guy that sold it to you was pulling your leg. who knows what else he forgot to mention

ohhh no no this engine's only got 20k on it, trust me lol we had it apart.. it was pre funny, this engine was sitting in his dad's garage, his dad just gave it to him and he was gonna try and swap it into a festiva.. but gave up. i don't have the transmission for it tho, i was wondering (altho i doubt) if it would bolt up to the original.

thats a good thing tho. the stock b18a1 tranny wont bolt into your car w/o a special mount kit. also, your stock d-series tranny wont bolt to ur new b-series motor. grab a SI (y21) tranny for the lowest gears, stock b18b (s40) for longest gears (best economy)
