Swapping an OBD1 engine into an OBD 2 chassis?
Hey all usually I can find all the info I need by searching, hence the low post count haha.
Anyways I couldnt find too much info on this... but I was wondering...
If one had a 96-00 (EK) hatch and wanted to swap in a B18B LS motor ... and the LS motor was an older OBD 1 model ... or even if it was OBD 2 but just older than the chassis of the car... what would one need to pass emissions on PA for each situation?
I.E. what would it take to make the car run with an OBD 1 engine and make it legal too? and what would it take if it was an OBD 2 engine but just older than the car ?
Thanks in advance

i dont know about PA but here in California you cant swap and older engine into a newer shell and be legal. The engine going into the car must be newer year than the chassis. Hope that helps

as far as i know thats not the case here but things must be done to be legal ...
Honestly I just wanna know how to make the car RUN in the first place.

in colorado you have to get an inspection done to verify the correct components are on the motor, then you can get a sheet that tells the emissions people to test your car as a car from the same year as your motor.

To get it to run, you need to:
-Reuse your stock civic harness and change distributor, injector, and alternator plugs to the obd1 plugs.
-Get an obd2-obd1 ecu jumper harness
-Plug in an obd1 LS ecu.
Thats it.
I would check your local laws before I did the swap, though. It would really suck to do all the work and then not be able to register it.
