Default Swapping d series tranny.. I have some questions

So I have a 95 civic lx with a d16z6 and 97ex tranny the syncros are worn out and the input shaft bearing is getting really noisy...

So I found a tranny off a y8 engine it's a hydro s40 factory lsd tranny (Or so the seller says)

Just curious since I am new to this stuff, will there be any problems mating this tranny with my z6?

Shift linkage isn't gonna need to be changed or anything?

Any tips on this would be helpful, I don't wanna buy a tranny I can't use..

no factory lsd. look into the diff. if there is a bar thru it, no lsd. seller sounds shady, avoid. 92-00 civic d series transmissions will all work.

Ok, he's also only asking $150 for it, seems kinda low like a quick sell, think I should just keep looking?

For a Y8 transmission, that isn't low at all.

That being said, this belongs in the value sticky. It's there for a reason.

The Y8 trans doesn't have a LSD. Seller is either uninformed or lying.

This is half and half in my opinion. OP is asking if there is any problems (technical problems) of mating the S40 up to his Z6 motor. The answer is no. The tranny will mate up perfectly.

The S40 has steel shift forks while the original 92-95 S20 trannies have aluminum shift forks.

Then the other half which is what seems to be everyones focus is the value part of the tranny itself and the seller.

Mixed bag this one is....

OP username is weird, young wisdom? Truthfully there is no way to tell if the tranny is good or not until you take it apart. I doubt the seller is going to take it apart and show you how the gears and synchros looks. Last but not least ask the seller for pictures to confirm the lsd. How us are we going to tell you if has it or not?

If you say that the car has a 97ex transmission now, then the car already has an s40 transmission. The transmission you found is off of a y8 right? They made the 97ex civic with a y8 engine. Its the same exact transmission you have now.
