Swapping B16 into EK Coupe....
Finally after having just about all the parts for my B16 Swap my engine blew and now I have no choice but to swap in the B16. Me and my cousin keep revising on what we need and whats left. I got the ECU, Motor, Tranny, Linkage, Axles and the works. Only thing thats left is to get a conversion for the ECU since I am swapping the 00 SI ECU into my 97 EX that carried a D16Y8 but since Im broke cause of the last thing I bought was the ECU would I be able to run my D16Y8 ECU just for dailing driving of school, work and home. The ripping of my old motor has already started and the block is what is wrong. Well the piston is jumping and hitting the top of the engine and I dont even want to rebuild since I have the B16. I just dont want to ruin the new motor.

Re: (fishnfst)
Are 100% sure with personal experience or what just because I have been reading people run their D16s with B16 ECU and what not. Just I need to have a daily driver for about a week to the conversion harness.

No.
And show us where you read people are using their D16 ECU's with a B16 and it runs fine. And if you can do that, what are you asking us for? "People" is plural, meaning more than one - how many more did you want to see a 'yes' from if you've already seen it from 2+ that say it runs just dandy?

No im not saying for good. My question is will it affect the engine if I ran it for about a week or 2 at the most not revving past 3000 RPM. I know the engine is not going to get direct power like the actual B16 with a rev limit of 7000 DUH. But this is the link I saw they were running the D16 ECU on the B16.

You can run it, and not it will not affect the engine, you just wont get all of the engines power or potential, but from what your saying.. you don't really need that right now so it shouldnt matter.

When/If you start having problems later down the road with your B16 after you swap in the correct ECU, make sure to tell us that you first ran it on a D16 ECU.

D and B series ECUs should not be interchanged. Yes, it will run. No, it will not run safely or correctly.

too late somebody already said it'll work, be damn the consequences. the timing has to be considerably different between a single and dual cam motor.

I wouldnt do it man...
Im sure someone on here will give you a good deal on the OBD2B to OBD2A conversion harness. Check/post in the for sale forum.
Even if it takes a week or two its better than screwing something up permanently.

Well I just heard from a guy in school that knows some good things about swapping engine and he told me im going to need the rear L motor mount from the 99-00SI and I though I could use my stock mounts.

Rear tranny bracket to firewall(99/00 SIR (SI in USA) $33cdn at Honda -- so i'd assume it would be less there)
Front lower tranny mount (I believe the integra one will work but you better check)
As far as mounts go if theres anything other than that I'd like to know. My B16 is sitting in the garage here too.

Click the link in my sig for further details on the swap.
mik101 has it right on the rear bracket though. You can still use your stock rubber mount however - the piece that's bolted to the crossmember and to which the L bracket attaches.l

im sure you can use your D16Y8 ECU but your engine isnt gonna be burning enough fuel since its a DOHC compare that to a SOHC also a V-TEC so my opinion would be just to find a B16 ecu already . .

Re: Swapping B16 into EK Coupe.... (S o C l o s e)
I have the B16 ECU but I dont have the conversion harness since I own a 97 its a OBD2A and a 2000 SI is OBD2B and I need the conversion. Im not going to run the car until I get the conversion harness. I dont want to damage my new motor in anyway.
