swapped in a gsr..now high idle problems..
i just swapped in a 01 gsr in my ek coupe this weekend. the swap went fine. right now its open headers cause the headers dont reach the cat but that'll be fixed tomorrow. and we had to reuse the EX harness from my car cause the harness from the gsr was modified a lot so i think we have a couple sensors on the harness not used.
ok heres the big problem. im idling at just below 2k, warmed up and everything. when i start moving, lets say im stopped and i put it in 1st and drive off slowly, the rpm goes below the idle rpms. so when im driving off, its fine. its normal. but every idle, im just around 2k rpms.
can you guys help me out?

LOL..im sure if that was the problem he would notice....when a motor is idling at 2k..you would know it....

there are mad wiring issues in this swap. i cant remember exact pins, and dont know what year ek you have. BUT the last swap i did was a jdm gsr into a 99 ek. and the iac pins were way off. i cant remember the pin location, but ione had to be switched. and thats all i can remember. if it is idling high and not searching, i would lean towards it having a tight throttle cable.

yes check that and then and then check your trouble codes.

hey guys...
there were a couple vacuum hoses that had cracks in it and stuff...so i replaced those...now the idle is at 1300-1400...so im thinking its cause of a vacuum hose somewhere or a sensor...havent checked the CEL...
and i played around with the throttle cable...didnt help much...
where can i get the CEL checked?

Re: (ddong2lee)
hey guys..good news...
fixed the problem..
it was the freakin ecu...i had a chipped p28 ecu..
my friend swapped in an ls ecu to see what it would do and it idled like it was from factory...
so i got a stock OBD-1 p72 and now the idle is puuuuuurrfect...
still one stupid problem...in jersey, its gettin pretty cold...
but when i leave my car parked for like a couple of hours sometimes not even that much, i would start it up and it would idle around 2k for like a few mins then drop to like 1500k for like a min or so then finally go to normal rpms...it literally takes 5 mins for it to go to normal rpms for sitting parked for only a couple of hours...anyone know what it might be?
fyi...when we put the coolant in, it wasnt 50/50...we just put coolant in 100%...u think that might be the problem...we didnt feel like mixing it 50/50 cuz it was like 2 in the morning...and i was gonna flush the system out soon anyways...would that be the problem?

Re: (ddong2lee)
Does it stay at 1500-2k rpms or does it bounce. 50% water .. ..
On the bottom of the throttle body there is a thorttle body warmer. It has a coolant hose coming from the head . My friend had the same problem and it turned out that the spring got jamed up. do we changed the whole peice and it was perfect. spray some brake cleaner on the gasket on the TB and manifold, and the wafer, ull see if there is a leak. hope this help..s

Re:
thats what i was just gonna say. throttle cable could be too tight.... they give you some slack at the factory position, so i would check that... there's a great writeup on how to mess with the throttle cable at
http://www.clubsi.com ... then click on information zone, then tips and tricks... you'll see it...
that's what i'd check first... then take a look at the CEL if it doesnt fix it
