SWAPPED 97 EX ENGINE INTO A 99 EX - Not getting injector pulse
Ok here is the problem! 96-98 ex engine swap into a 1999 civic ex shell same
engine same everything. Also swapped 99 intake manIfold onto the 96-98 engine
for harness to match up. Very simple swap probable my 50th engine swaps to date.
Ok so here is we're I feel like kicking my next door neighbors dog!
Not getting injected pulse.
This is what I did to cover all grounds
1 Car alarm took it out.
2 new ecu from friends car didn't work( both ecu work on his car)
3. Wires ,spark, cap, everything good
4 say what....... Ya that's right getting fuel all the way to the fuel rail.
5. Changed injectors for the hell of it and also scratched my freshly painted
finger nails
6. Checked all grounds 5 hundred times up and down the car goes on the lift WTF
7. Call 3 other master mechanics to come look at my car
8. New distributeR
9. All fuses and master fuses and relays are all good ....... .???? At this
point I'm looking for my neighbors dog. Waving lunch meat and whistling
10. all plugs and everything is plugged in and is all good inside out side car
12. Pulled FUEL RELAY out started car still no pulse or fuel squirting out of
injectors
O ya don't try and do this my engine bay caught on fire and everyone in the shop
was screaming like little school girls flinging there rags at the car some one
grabbed a bucket of water and flung it into the engine bay like you see clowns
throw buckets of confetti in the circuses.
Finly someone found a hose and put the fire out
12 and 1/2 . Fire did no damage at all LMFAO we have cameras in the shop that
recorded the whole thing
13. Check volts and ohms on every injecter getting volt when grounded back to
engine
14. Went back to ecu.... Sent volt threw each ejecter pins one ecu and checked
back to injecter. No breaks in wire and I'm getting signal.
15. If I spray fuel into throttle body and crank car over it starts and runs for
a min.
16. Tried 96-98 ecu for the heck of it didn't work WITH THE JUMPER HARNESS
Anyone that can give me a idea ! Please don't grab at straws I need some real
expertise here

Are the injector ground wires properly pinned to the ECU?
Are you running a stock 99-00 Civic EX OBD2b ECU?
Have you swapped in a known good ECU?
Any CEL codes thrown after cranking the engine for 30 seconds?

Re: SWAPPPED A 97 EX ENGINE INTO A 99 EX - Not getting injector pulse
Whoever tried to use water to put out ANY fire in a shop needs to never come within 50 feet of the shop, period. Water will spread fuel/oil fires, and make electrical fires even more of a hazard.
Compression and leakdown tests, and check your fuel pressure at the fuel filter.

both engines ran before we took the cars apart.....car runs with starting fluid...definetly have more than enough fuel pressure

Just do the tests. You can't expect us to magically diagnose things if you aren't willing to test them. If the motor is running with starter fluid, that means it isn't getting fuel. I'm trying to help you figure out why it isn't getting fuel.

"Fuel sprays everywhere" doesn't tell us if you're within spec. Too little or too much fuel, and it won't run.
It's a damn 5 minute test. If you aren't willing to test things, don't waste our time.

Turn key off. Unplug ECU connector B.
At pins B2, B10, B20, and B22 in the free connector, use a multimeter to test for continuity to body ground. All should have continuity to body ground.
Turn key to ON(II). Measure voltage to body ground at pins B1 and B9 in the free connector. Both should have battery voltage.

ok so we took the 25 pin plug out and those pin locations you gave me are not getting ground to the body

Re: SWAPPPED A 97 EX ENGINE INTO A 99 EX - Not getting injector pulse
Please say how is this^ is relevant here.
I think that only the auto trans Civic needs the 4th plug.
Some of the said pins must have ground because, otherwise, the fuel pump would not prime and there would be no spark at the plugs.
Describe how exactly you did the tests and also post the wire colors at the pins you tested.
Have you done the two voltage tests?

b2 is not getting continuity to the ground b10 is not getting continuity but b20 and 22 were
did the voltage test and got 12 volts on both b1 and b 9
