swaping d15b7 into 99 civic ex auto?
So my sister 99 civic ex auto motor sized.
At this point, she just needs it to running since the body is a little rough.
swap following parts from Y8 to d15b7 :
auto torque converter
auto IM & tb
driver side block mount
crank pulley
header
Q:
will y8 auto distributor bolt up to d15b7?
even if I won't be plugging up the vtec plugs, knock sensor & crank angle sensor that the y8 motor has, will the 99 ex ecu still allow motor to RUN?
My goal is just get the car running with out any bogging or idling issues.
Sure CEL will be on but it's not a big deal at this point.

Yes.
No. Or at very least poorly enough that it's not really going to be drivable, if you perform the CKF trick it will at least run then, but not particularly well. base timeing is different between a D15B7 and a Y8 (16° BDC vs 12° BDC)

timing, what would be the easiest fix?
again i don't care if vtec doesn't work.
A) advance timing with distributor...
b) find a OBDIIB dx ecu?.... is that timing also like the y8 cause my buddy does have an extra one

Can't be adjusted far enough.
Wont help for timing, Y7s are 16° BDC the same as a D15B7, the ECU will get rid of your vtec codes, but you'll get transmission codes due to a different 3rd gear ratio between Y7 and Y8 auto trannys

you mean y7 and y8 are 16degrees @ BDC right?
I'm thinking I may just do mini-me since I have both long blocks at my discresion that way i can get rid fo all CEL and bypass the CFK sensor.
Q:
1) Oh shoot... but the y8 block has knock sensor and the b7 doesn't...
will not having the knock sensor plug in affect driveablity or run in limp mode?
does the b7 block have a port in the rear where I can just tap in the y8 knock sensor?
2) what timing cover can I use when doing b7 block & y8 head?

Nope, I meant what I said. Y7 and D15B7 are 16° Y8 is the oddball.
What exactly happened to the Y8? head might be junk.
Vtec wont engage, other than that you should have issues. As long as the knock sensor is in some way attached to the block it will work, you could theoratically JB weld it there and it would function properly.
As a guess D16Z6 or D15Z1 for the upper cover. Lower will either be D15B7/D15B8, D15Z1 or D16Z6, not exactly sure which. It wont be Y8 though.

my sister was driving it and the motor sized on the freeway.
She said the car just didn't excellerate anymore.
She towed it to mechanic who couldn't turn the crank and said it was sized.
Tonight i'll be yanking the motor out.. we'll see what the damage is.
