swap questions
ok i have a 98 civic ex and a b18c type-nasty motor. i would like to know everything needed for that swap. i have bought motor mounts,an ecu, and complete wire harness. i posted a thread about the wire harness and they told me i should use the harness that is already on my civic with a conversion harness. but i put this motor in my old 2000 civic si and i had alot of problems with the conversion harness. so if i could id like to steer clear of the conversion harness unless i really need to use it. i know that i need axles. would i buy axles for any b series? anything i am leaveing out please let me know

Re: swap questions
uhm buy a b18type-r thats obd2 so you won't have to switch over. id call hasport or someone about the axles i don't personally know mine came with the swap. getting the motor and tranny? you might need shift linkage.
buy the few replacement things that are maintenance things. sparks, fuel, timing.

Re: swap questions
There's no easy way around the conversion harness. The reason is that OBD1 harnesses are a 2 piece design that split at the shock towers. OBD2 cars, yours is OBD2A, have a one piece design. There is no easy way to mate the OBD1 harness to the OBD2A harness; you'd have to do a lot of cutting and splicing which can introduce a ton more problems than you are trying to prevent. Best thing to do is use the existing EX harness and add wires for IAB. Then you'd use the conversion harness to run the OBD1 ECU.

wait a min you said you had a 98 ex, thats a obd2 car, why are you messing with a obd1 harness, the plug that goes to the dizzy thier should only be 1 plug, you shouldnt have to get that obd1 to obd2 dizzy conversion
