Swap Help ITR int EK. ***PLEASE HELP***
hi
I just finished putting a Full ITR swap into a buddies ek hatch. The swap did not come with a wiring harness so i had to use the stock one. I had to extend the tps and the crank sensor wires and change the plug end on the IACV to match the Itr one.
Upon start up it wont idol? If i give it some gas it runs great but will not idol if i let off. So i check codes. I have a Code 15, 41, 21 and 20. So 20 for eld, 21 for vtec (i will diagnose once i have it idoling) 41 is for o2 heater. I will change the sensor.
My question is Code 15, Ignition output signal. What do i do, i cant realy find a strait answer as to what might cause this. I changed the ICM and it still is the same.
Do the codes clear on obd2 the same as obd1? Just pull the fuse, or will i have to use a scanner to do that? My scanner and i one from another shop will not read anything through the obd2 plug???
If i plug in the Stock ECU, It will Idol, Crappy of course, but i get a code 65 and 14.

Re: Swap Help ITR int EK. ***PLEASE HELP*** (grand champ)
ok cool another bone head thing to check that has burned me in the past is to make sure that the iacv conector and the tps are not swaped. Sounds stupid but i have seen it before.

Re: (jime64871)
if ur using a d series gharnass u gotta splice it and change a counple of the connectors. best bet to run obd2 is to get the correct harness for the type r engine. obd1 might run good but when it comes time for emissions ur screwed.

Well that's because your "OBD2" JDM ECU isn't actually OBD2.
"What?"
Well the JDM P73 ECU may have the OBD2A plug, but it does NOT look for OBD2-specific sensors such as 2nd o2, evap, CKF, and it won't throw codes for catalyst efficiency low, system too rich/lean, etc. like shitbox OBD2 does.
Don't believe me?

Please do not post if you have no clue what you're talking about, thanks.
"Get the correct harness for the type r engine..."
How exactly would you do that? Tell me exactly what harness you need to make this swap work. Oh that's right - you have no clue!
the correct answer is he already has the "right" harness for the job because you must use the stock Civic harness and add the necessary wires and change some plugs, etc. You cannot run the ITR engine harness on the 96-00 Civic because the ITR harness stops at the shock towers, while the 96-00 civic harness runs all the way through the firewall and into the ECU.
Refer to my first statement directed towards you.

Yeah exactly, i figure that it is just the level of diagnostics that obd2 runs. It its picking something up that obd1 will not.
We are just gunna run a p28 chipped and tune it.

Well if you don't have emissions where you live then OBD1 and tuned is much, much better and hassle free than crap-*** OBD2 anyways.
I've been running my B18C5 OBD1 for over 8 years with not a single CEL, ever. Made 178whp/132ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels on an Uberdata tune with only i/h/e and cam gears.
