swap or build and boost?
I have a 1997 civic lx (d16y7), i am trying to decide if i should go ahead and get a b18c or just build my engine and turbo. any advice? I am kind of new to this so if anyone could suggest exactly what i need to build that would help. which way is more reliable?

BOTH YAY! Heh, get some skanky LS swap, build the SOHC & do a mini-me, then swap back for b000st.
But a b18c swap can be up & running perfect in a week easily...

you're right, but he's joking around saying get the cheaper non-vtec b-series for a performance increase while building the d-series...then he says but the b18c can be up and running with good power in a weeks time

it all depends on what funding you have available and how much you want to spend. i take it you are wanting more power, so it just depends.
-d series boosted makes more power than a swap
-BUT, a boosted swap makes more power than a d series can dream of
i personally am going the boosted swap route, but in the end, it all is up to you and what you want to do.
and as far as reliability... boosted has just as much reliablility as a stock motor.... its all in the tuning. can even get better gas mileage boosted. thats a plus.

yea cheaper is better for me. so i have to get a y8 head? how much do they go for? Then what? buy a kit to build it , port and polish? then turbo w/ a good tune? how much boost can u run on these? my y7 has 99k miles.
