Well what the heck do you want a swap for? Too many factors involved without you telling us more. How much do you want to spend, how long can you be without your car, what will it be used for ... etc. You cant just say "what swap should I get" thats like asking "what should I eat today" if you got $1.26 to your name telling you to eat a prime rib doesnt really help does it?

there we go, (i am a n00b, no need to mention)...

it will be daily driven, i can go for a week without my car. My car has 145,000 mi. on it and i want to just swap now before there are potential problems. Basically, i want to get some better performance (minor racing, maybe some track runs) and i figure i want to replace the motor with something i want and can afford now than wait until it dies and i could have some problems paying later.

I will do what it takes to buy it, (money is an object) but i want to get some perspective so i can figure out how much i will need.

Expect to pay around $500-$600 for the installation of the swap (not unless you have connections).

As for the engine, there are great deals to be had all over the internet. Just try checking http://www.recycler.com and punching in B16. If you do your homework you can piece together a 99-00SI B16 for around $2100-$2200.

The sky is the limit. . .unfortunately it sounds like your walet is not. Eventually you are going to have to make the final decision.

People on HT will tell you to go a million different ways as far as the engine. I would say go with the B16 if you want something that is cheap/reliable, and you will see a noticeable difference in power.

If you can budget around $5000, that should be more then enough to get you up and running (considering you are going to have all the work done by a shop that is going to ream your *** on LABOR!)

Good Luck.

OMG its KrunchyKrisp...

Dude, you live in Cali so finding a motor and a shop willing to do the swap shouldn't be VERY hard...

You're gonna wanna daily drive it but still want some power, so you should stick with the B Series motors. I'd really suggest either going with the JDM B16 from the SiR... I think it puts out 170hp, and the B18c1 is somewhere around there as well. At least with the B16 there still won't be that many miles on the car AND its alreay OBD-1 so you don't have to worry about all the wiring crap.

The difference is a $1k though, so you're prolly gonna want to go with the B16. Its a very respectable swap, with some potential for FI if you ever wanna go that route.

Theres a 95 EX there, check out my profile on the members page of the clan, its a D16y with a Greddy kit on there, stripped running high 13's. You could get a d series motor and get the turbo kit if you're looking for quick power.
