Suspension Sqeaking noise, Video included.
Alright when ever I go over a little bumps or something my front left suspension makes little sqeaking noises. I poped my hood to check, i pushed my car down and up and you can hear the same sqeaking noises. The little ring thing on the suspension isn't tighten down because of the screw that doesn't screw down,
video ...
note: squeaking is actually louder in real life, and wen you drive.
this is the screw that won't screw because i probably stripped it wen i tightened it with a torque wrench, which i heard you arent suppose to use to tighten it.
So should i replace that screw? if so where could i get one?
thanks in Advance

Re: (sintype)
i was wondering if the shocks were blown but i don't think it is, because my friends said if your shocks are blown, wen you push your car down its bounces up and down.
I really think its that bolt that won't screw down, allowing that ring to move around. Because the noise really seem to come from this part.

You use an alan wrench to stop the shaft from spinning while your tightening the nut. The strut is not broken, it's designed to move like that. Since you just installed struts, I'm guessing you might have just installed a camber kit too??? The bushings that bolt the upper control arm to the body are most likely year squeak. Good luck!

Re: (dth0ng69)
alright so you guys were right, I tightened the nut with a torque wrench and it tightened pretty solid because the ring didnt move. But there was still sqeaking noises.. Im guessing what you guys said about greasing the Bushing where the upper control arm and the body meet or Grease up the bushings that are in the top hat of the shock.. which one should i do? and what should i use?

I would be suprized if it wasn't the upper control arm bushings. WD40 is not the fix, you'll have to do your own research on that part.

Di-electric grease, it works fine.. Do the ones on the top hat on shock and you should be peachy. you can use silicone spray but it's temporary and doesn't work that great.

geeeeeeez man,, don't use bearing gease, it'll eat up the rubber, which look way too loose and incorrectly installed, they go pointy side to pointy side and should squash down 50%. should be a steel tube inside em too.
If you must use grease, use a silicone only lube.

i stripped that stud thing the nut goes on because the strut was stuck in the shock tower...and me (not thinking) took a hammer to it and messed the threads up. i just kinda tightened it down as much as i could get it and drilled a hole through the nut and stud and put a cotter pin through it. just til i can afford some new struts. but mine never squeaked so idk what is causing that. check the other suspension squeak thread. lol
