Default suspension setup on 'sol vtec

Ok, I've been looking around trying to decide what I wanted to do for my suspension and I think I've got my first stage figured out but wanted to get some advice from the fellow 'sollers here since I'm all of 3 weeks into this car. I'm looking for a nice neutral setup with the possibility of a HINT of oversteer but I definitely want it to be something my wife can drive without me having to replace some body panels, you know? Anyway this is what I'm thinking

1996 Del sol VTEC
Ground Control coilovers 300-350 front / 350-400 rear (advice on rates here??)
Koni Yellows
ITR rear sway or some other 22mm bar (advice here also?)
16" Bronze Rota Subzeros

For now I plan on keeping the stock front strut tower brace and want to go without the rear one for as long as possible since this is a daily driver and I need a trunk. My plans are to eventually autocross the car but I'm building a house so starting slow.

Any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Default Re: suspension setup on 'sol vtec (Dave421)

Dave421:

Ok. Here's my experience and set up -

1993 del Sol Si, DOHC VTEC B16A2 swap
16x7 Rota subzero in silver w/polished lip
205-45-16 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
Progress Competition coilovers
Neuspeed front and rear strut bars
Neuspeed rear LCA tie bar
Beaks SRKII
ITR rear sway bar
ES motor mount inserts and polybushings (partially in)

The car handles nice and neutral, oversteer available at will when coming hard off the gas. Its streetable, but not the most cushy ride ever. I drive 200 miles a day on smooth highway and rough surface roads. The rear strut bar is actually a help with groceries (keeps them in one place!), and with the Neuspeed one, the bar section can be removed without removing the mounts, so its really convenient if I need the entire trunk (haven't had to mess with it yet, and its been about 18 months, trips to Home Depot, etc, etc).

Can't speak for the GC/Konis, but I love the Progress ones.

For a big rear sway bar, gotta get a Beaks kit. Period.

Good luck. If you need pics, I have some, and can get some more this weekend (that 200 mile commute makes for a poopy schedule too!).

HTH!

Steve
