Default suspension

Ok, this is my first post. So iv decided to ask if any one has had a problem with 17 inch rims hitting your fenders in the rear when you turn or hit bumps? I hate it you cant have a lot of weight in the car. Has anyone fixed this problem with the fenders? Or do you just recomend 16 inch rims?

Ok...stop post whoring, this is the 2nd thread youve answered with less than 2 words.

17's are a little big, but you shouldnt have many problems, it depends on weight and the drop on your car. If you want to be sure you can roll your fenders to give it a little extra space, but personally I'd stick with 16s. 15's are ideal for performance and looks in a balance, but if you want a bigger wheel a 16 should be fine.

thanks for the reply. I dropped it only 1 3/4 inches. It never did it before when it had mad *** camber. But since the camber kit (which i recomend for anyone) they have hit due to the tires being straight up and down. On my old car i let the camber get so bad the metal came through on the tires and i almost had a huge accident.

rims are cool, but next time do the research before you buy.
17's are not too big for a civic but....................

OFFSET,OFFSET,OFFSET is what determines how close the rim comes to the wheel well... if you had the right offset you'd be able to slam the car to the ground and not rub anything but the underneath of your car

Yea 15s should be no problem, 16s are pretty decent, no problems that i've heard, and yes, a camber kit is a must and i'm glad you picked that up

17s can be done but theres no real reason.

The funniest thing i've ever seen was a civic on multispoke 18s...the damned thing looked like it had wagon wheels...the ride height was ridiculous and they were just so poppingly huge...

thanx for the reply, i actually bought the car with 17's and im tryin to fix all the little things before i can do my swap. I think 17's just look wrong in a hatch back, they are too big.

how much of a drop? i have neuspeed sport springs. only a 1.5" drop. i had about a 2.25" drop before and i had to raise it back up because it was rubbing with 18s. so that could be your problem.

Offest is everything. I had 16's with bad offset and I was only dropped 1.8F 1.6R. I rubbed so bad in turns or going over bumps. With a passenger or two, you can barely drive the car because you feel like you're going to break something.

I have +35 mm offset with 15's and that is really too low. It rubbed on me with 205's with 4 on board. Most likely the lowest practical offset for my car should be 38 mm. Tire Rack didn't want to sell me the 205's to go with the wheels. I think I will work on getting a bigger anti roll bar to try and reduce the roll in corners. Presently I have a 14 mm roll bar from a GSR. Thinking about the 15 mm from Del Sol Si because it would be easiest install but not sure it will make much difference.
