Adjust the FITV (Fast idle thermo valve), which is on the back underside of the throttle body. Take of the intake and just inside is a little 1/2inch hole that leads to the FITV.

Take off the the IACV (idle air control valve) Which is on the back of the throttle body it has two coolant hoses connected to it, take it off and clean it with carb cleaner.

Also when your car is on disconnect the TPS and map sensor and see if that changes the idle or slows it any.

what engine you got????

Then you need to adjust your FITV

There is nothing to clean in the FITV. The retainer gets loose and causes your fast idle surge. Tighten it a turn or two and your idle will clean up on warm up.

huh?

Anyway, your FITV may be busted and coolant could be seeping through it and being sucked into the TB. That's what happened to me... had to replace the FITV.

For future reference, look here first: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/faqs-frequently-asked-tech-questions-1998336/

If when you unbolt the FITV from the throttle body there is coolant coming out of one of the 3 ports, you're FITV is probably screwed.

The white ring inside with notches in it. If you follow the link I have now posted twice, it will show you what i'm talking about. Also, clean it out... the guy who said there's nothing to clean is wrong.

Once the car is warmed up, the temperature of the coolant flowing to the FITV causes the FITV to close, and the FITV's problem can no longer affect the car.

EDIT: I guess this whole time i've been replying to someone who jacked this thread. lol. You must be talking about the OP. My posts are in reply to "EJ1 LS guy."
