Surf/Snowboard Racks
i have a 1992 Civic Si and i surf and snowboard. this saturday i am going to the beach to go surfing...i just tried to see if my 6'6'' surfboard would fit in my car with the rear seats folded down and it wont..then i tried it with the rear seats and the front passenger seats and it wont...i want to get some sort of rack system like yakima or thule but i know they are very pricey...if anyone has an idea or knows how much it will cost for a rack setup by yakima or thule please let me know...

I have the Yakima's. I almost think you could lift the car with them, they mount really firm. Plus they lock.
Glad to see a surf bro. Shaka.

did you get the Q Towers and Q Sretch Kit? it says 315.00 on the site...i think it will make the hatchie look decent too...do they go on and off the car easily?

dude..i fit a wrv 6"10 in my car...but if you need a cheap rack system... dakine makes some soft racks...that are very cheap 40bucks...you should be able to find them at a local surf/snowboard shop or online....

yep, both my boards fit(6'8" & 6'5"), stick the nose b/w the driver/passenger seats. soft racks work too. i was gonna get yakima racks installed, go to the yakima site and search for your nearest dealer, which will most likely be a bicycle shop.
i'm sure you're not having any probs fitting the snowboards, i can fit plenty in mine.

Just a suggestion, you have a 92 hatch right? Leave the rear hatch open and let the board hang out the rear, but make sure you secure the board so when you accelerate it doesn't fly out the back and have someone run over it. If all you are doing is going to and from the beach.I think that is a cheaper alternative than buying a roof rack. But, hey the roof rack works also. But be careful when you mount the roof hack on don't clamp them down to hard it'll put dents in the roof. The guy that owned my hatch before me did that and now I've got dents in the roof, it sucks.

Isnt having a hatchback great. Its amazing
how much stuff you could actually fit into one.
I like being able to put everything from my
car into my car. Personally I hate the way that
the roof racks look.
