i got a supercharger from jrsc for civic sohc and i was wondering if any one mght allready installed it on a d16y7 need help to put it together ????

Did you buy it used or new? It's not that hard to install. I also doubt you will find someone on here or anywhere for that matter that has a supercharger on a D16Y7. Just not a common engine to mod.

But it is essentially the same as installing a SC on a D16Y8, for example. It basically replaces the intake manifold and such. Search, I'm sure there is a lot of information out there.

its used i know i think im the only one in earth trying to mod a d16y7 just want to make something that no one will do but yea aany help helps

There is reasons though why people do not mod a Y7. For one it can be considered as one of the weakest Honda engines made, and for lots of reasons. Non-VTEC, 1.6L displacement, weak bottom end, notorious for being an oil burning machine, etc., etc. And secondly because there is so much more available, in regards to engine choice.

But to each is his own, and I respect that. So as I said, try and search the best you can. You could get away by following a SC install on a Y8 since the two motors are the same in lots of ways, but there will be points when there is difference and you will need to know what to do.

Yes of course they made an automatic transmission for it, any of the D-Series autos will bolt up... The d16y8 is the si 96-98 or ex 96-00 afaik.

I actually have a spare one in my garage w/ everything you need if you want it :p gotta come get it though lol

u will have to rewire the idle air control valve and i think the tps to put a sc on a y7 well un less u use the stock t-body

BTW if you put the D16y8 head on it will not pass smog in Cali at least, and you cant just slap it on you have to remove the plugs for the oil squirters on the block. And you will have to wire the vtec in which is easy and you can splice it to your OEM harness. You will have to change the IACV unless you keep the auto tranny in there I believe. It would also make sense to switch that exhaust mani for a civic ex header, but will be loud without the cat. I heard the non vtec motor may make more power then the vtec one but not for sure. The vtec may actually reduce power with a supercharger. Does any one else have any knowledge on that? Good luck with the build and save money for belts lolz.

budget racer--- NO a vtec motor doesnt make less power then the y7 it makes more.
i have never heard of vtec reducing power with a sc, yea the sc takes power away but vtec wouldnt do that.
op- way supercharge a auto?? auto trannys suck and youll prolly blow it up.

False, it has worked in the past and can work for this guy, it would just cost more money. The 1981 280zx, for example, had an automatic option. The only issue some people don't realize is that with forcing more air and changing the dynamics of the motor, you need strong components to take the boost in power, forged pistons, tougher clutches, high end springs, different cams, and the list goes on.

Personally, what I would do with this car is sell the supercharger, because it will cost you more in the long run, and buy yourself a decent swap like a B-series or K-series. Then again, I forgot how much you said you bought the JSRC for. Don't get me wrong all sorts of chargers are sweet but unless done 100% to the "T" you might be spending money later. Anyway, thought I would present another side of the story and in short, you can do what you want, it always depends on how deep your pockets are.
