Re: Supercharge my d15b7 or buy a new car (dom93hatch)
y does everyone say buy a hatch..that 92-95 coupe weighs less then a eg si hatch.
trunks rule. so do sohc motors if u know what ur done.."just swap"..lol..tell that to bisi..back when he was running 12s daily driven..
but anyways..d15 rods r puny..u better have gooood management and run low boost to keep those rods in one piece.

ive SC my coupe and the performance was ok with me..however u may need more juice to get a hardon...any kind of forced air is going to shorten the life of ur motor..rather than spending the money or a S/C or turbo..just save up a few extra hundred dollars and get the swap u thought u couldnt afford..ull be getting alot more performance for just a few $$$ more..maybe even less with the right help from fellow techies

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that you are comptemplating installing a Jackson Racing Supercharger? Dude, aren't they like $2,300? That''s about 80% of a B16 swap right there, and that will give you an much better base engine to begin modding, and hella cheaper than buying a new car (unless your lusting after a nice used Yugo or Pinto ) Don't get me wrong; I'm all about some SOHC power and think putting a turbo on my D16 would prove very entertaining, but the cold reality of the matter is the reason so many people swap to a B series for performance is because it's one of the most logical routes to take. Best of luck to you in whatever route you take.

http://www.hondamotorsonline.com has full JDM Second-Gen B16a swaps for $2350.00 plus shipping.
That doesn't mean i'm saying you'd better do a swap, but i'm just saying that a supercharger that costs $2,300 will end up costing near what a swap will.
And for the guy who said that the 1992-1995 Coupe weighs less than the Si hatch:
What about an EX coupe? Still lighter? Nope. I don't give a crap what this guy buys, but I'm just saying that car-for-car with same options the hatch will be lighter.
...and you cannot get a CX or VX coupe either, so stop comparing a DX coupe to an Si hatch just to say that hatches are not lighter than coupes.
Want to hear somthing funny though?
The 1992 LX 4-door manual with power windows, locks, cruise and all weighs LESS than the 1992 Si hatch w/o power windows, doorlocks, and the extra 2 doors.
All that tells me is that an Si hatch isn't the way to go if all you care about is being lighter.

I was in your shoes a couple mons. ago w/ a d series engine, a whole lot of questions, & even more frustrations. I was going to swap a 4dr, but got a great offer on the actual car w/ the engine I wanted. definitely have to say b series. i have nothing against SOHC build ups, actually know a few friends that successfully went this rought & are pleased. it all depends on "what" you actually want to do & can afford.
