Default Sub $900.00 Coilovers.

So I've been looking for the best coilover setup for an EG that wont leave me completely broke.

It seems that Omnipower is my best bet, however they are not dampening adjustable.

I know there are tien basics, D2, Tanabe Sustec Pro S-S Type II Coilover Kit, Tokico Illumina Coilovers, and Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Type-II Coilovers

they seem like they would be good, but i would really like to hear any opinions on what is best.

basically, im looking for the best STREET setup. my car will never be tracked, so i want something that i can dump the car with and not be slamming all over the place.

tia.

Koni Yellows + Ground Controls.

550ish for the shocks (which have a lifetime warranty)+ 300ish for the coils.

would this really be better than a full coilover system? dont full coils like omnipower have larger spring travel?

I honestly don't know much about the OMNI's, but I can damn sure vouch for the Yellows and GCs. You can get custom rates on the GCs for 329 and with the Yellows you have a lifetime warranty.

i had sleeve coilovers before and i hated them, the spring is only a few inches tall, where as the stock or after market springs are much taller. it makes them stiff as all hell.

seriously, spring for the extra 45 bucks and get the tein ss dampers. it's like what, a week of skipping lunch.

i too was weary about spending close to a grand on suspension for a $3000 del sol but it was by far the best $ spent on the car. all doubts will be gone one you go for your first ride with them. the only complaint i have about them is that they are a tad soft, BUT for an all street car you will be fine...

I bought the omnipower cuz they are my first set of full coilovers and when I out use them i'll look into getting either Tein SS, Tanabe S03 etc with dampening and rebound adjustable.

no bouncey ness if they are on full soft. yOU need to match the shock to the spring rates.

i would go for the d2's for they have damper adjustabilty. Omni's dont, and when ever you lower or raise a car, you need to adjust damper.

I always reccomend APEXi WS coilovers whenever someone asks this question. I had them for a few years, just for street driving, and I was very happy with them. Noticably stiffer ride than stock, but not jarring or uncomfortable on bumpy roads. Never bouncy feeling and never wore out over the few years I had them. I also had a ST rear sway bar, and the combo worked very nicely on my EK as well as my EG. Only complaint is they can be susceptible to rust, but I doubt many sub-$900 coilovers will be constructed of aluminum or other non-corroding material. Just make sure to take the time to clean them every now and then, probably lube them too. You should be able to get them for less than 900 if you shop around.

well you're looking to "dump" the car without hitting the ground, that's not going to happen. i have tanabe sustec pro SS coils on my civic hatch and i love them for daily driven, i want some higher spring rates though and a comptech rear tie/sway.

anyone up for donating? lol

I'd say spend a little extra and get the tein flex, then when you can get the motors/controller.

ive ridden in a car with tein flexs before with the dampening as stiff as they could go and wasnt impressed. so i can only assume that the basics and SS's are even worse. dont know much about the other setups but i've been looking into omnipowers myself. thats the way i'll be going.
i have adj. dampening shocks right now (agx) and to be honest with you i never touch the setting so adj. dampening isnt a huge concern for me.
