Default STUPIDEST question EVER...but can someone please answer it for me.

I tried searching but I couldnt seem to find anything. I think I already know the answer but I need someone to confirm it for me.

I have a 97 civic coupe with a b16 motor and I have been struggling to find a stockish exhaust for cheap. I really just want a stock exhaust. MY QUESTION> Will a stock exhaust off of a same year coupe but with a single cam motor bolt up???????

If there were to be any differences, it'd be in the area between the cat and the header/manifold area. In which you could just take it to a muffler shop and they could extend whatever you needed for you.

yes the stock one will work if you get it for the cat back. just make sure to check the end fitting's tho.

Not the stupidest question really, just not that good of an idea IMO.

If you get an exhuat system for a coupe with a D16Y8 it will line up, but it is a bottle neck for a B16A and high rpm power will suffer.

x2. It will bolt up with little or no modification, but it will choke up the b16. Just get an after market exhaust. They aren't to expensive and its always better to upgrade!

what would be better than an stock exhaust, to modify your current exhaust to be quieter....for example adding/replacing the current resonator with a 22" magnaflow(biggest I know of) and then a good muffler like the straight through ES tuning muffler(if you want that "deep growl" kind of sound) or something like a twinloop (pretty tame with just that and a high flow cat....long resonator would probably make it as quiet as stock)

as said, an sohc oem exhaust system will severely impact performance....just get an aftermarket or custom made one

You could either go name-brand...when I think quiet aftermarket exhaust, the Apex'i WS2 comes to mind.

Or if you wanted to keep it OEM, you could get a variety of OEM mufflers (RSX Type-S, S2000, '06-'07 Si, etc.), take your car to a muffler shop and say "I need to get a new cat-back exhaust made with 2.25" piping with this _______ muffler".

If you don't want any noise at all just find a stock one from a 99-00 Si. You gotta know someone who put an aftermarket one on their Si and has there stock one layin around. Don't expect to gain much performance wise but it'll still flow better then a single cam one.

If I remember right, the Type-S muffler is one of the better flowing OEM Honda mufflers. I've got an '07 Si muffler waiting to go on my GS-R'd hatchback...just gotta find the time to get down to the muffler shop.

thank you for all of the input, i was ready with my flame-suit zipped to the top. I think Im going to look into a stock RSX muffler.

What should I be looking to spend at the muffler shop for the piping?

How much would a Magnaflow/ES tuning combo setup run me?

THanks again!!!

LOL still haven't figured this out huh? LOL @ rattling.

IMO save up some $ and get a WS system, I've had mine for 6 years bro and never wanted something else. It has held up very well to the nasty salt in the winter. My friends would buy other systems and then later they would regret it.

It is really that good.

What I would do is get an axle back from an 99-00 Si and have a muffler shop do the rest of the piping.

BTW, you should have said you were going to sell the car in the first place. Your thread would have gone in a different direction.
