stupid stupid! question, but a good one, about tach's!!!
so i put an SI gauge cluster in my 94 del sol (dx model i guess, or S?, its non vtec.) and when the stock tach was in it it bounced limiter at about 6600 RPM, now that the SI gauge cluster is in it says it is bouncing limiter at 7600 RPM! is this SI cluster giving it more revs or is it not working right? i wouldent think that it would change but it did, i mean a tach is a tach right???
i just want to know if it is reving higher bcuz of the cluster or is it reading the wrong RPM's?????

the cluster is deffinatly not allowing it to rev any higher
therefore it is reading the wrong rpm (its an SI cluster from what car?)

sorry dont know how to tell, but keep in mind that an SI del sole used a different motor with a different ecu, so when u use this cluster it is supposed to use the signal from the proper ecu to be correct

ok so i have a PO6 ecu in it right now, so if i put a P28 vtec ecu it should be right yeah?
and i am putting a vtec head on it also, so it should be right then.

First off: Im not a tech or anything with hondas so im just guessing here
i wouldnt put the p28 ecu in untill you have the head swapped in and the vtec stuff all working right
the p28 is a vtec ecu so i would guess it wouldnt work right with a non-vtec engine
also keep in mind that the p28 is for the sohc - i think it was from the d-series w/vtec
in my car (B16a2 from 99-00 civic Si) i have a p28, but its not the propper one

i could do that but its not the same, every car doesnt hit rev limiter on the "red line" on the tach, even with the "stock" dash it went past the "red line" a lil bit. ive been looking everywhere but cant find what the COMPUTER limits the motor at.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE '''COMPUTER''' LIMITS AT? Its a stock PO6 non vtec del sol ECU OBD1

just found out from the hondata website that it lists the p06 as used in the 92-95 "civic dx/del sol s" on the d15b engine
i know this isnt too useful, but i hope it helps
here are the links

ok. the cluster wont change where redline is. that is controlled by the ecu.
also, it doesnt matter if it is the same ecu or not, a cluster is a cluster is a cluster. i'm running a p30 ecu in my hatch. the ecu matches the b16 del sol, and the cluster is a stock ex cluster. you were correct in the beginning, a tach is a tach.
now that being said, the tach itself is incorrect, not functioning properly. either replace the cluster, or replace the tach inside the current cluster. my last cluster was inaccurate. mine was slow, so it said redline was at 7200, even though it redlines at 8200. replaced cluster, now everything is more accurate.
hope that helps. good luck.
