This is totally gay topic...but I can't figure it out. Here is the scoop. Rear 2000 civic 4 door handles.....but having some serious issues. 2000 civic hb. MY car was painted and the 4 door handles installed. REmoved the key rod. The doors worked fine for a few days. Then they started stick....they wouldnt allow me to unlock them once they were closed. If they were open, all is well. The driver unlocks if I yank like crazy on the rod....but the passenger is dead....frozen...worthless.....shut. It feels like it is unlocking....but no love on opening. I pulled the bolts from the hinges in the front....tried to swivel it off....nope. I am about to drill the back of the mechanism out or torch the door off. I dunno. What a pita.

So recap....passenger willl not open. DRiver door...unlocks/locks w/o problems when it is open....once shut...sometimes sticks and will not unlock all the way.

have u tried greasing them up(locks)?

They are semi-greasy....will try on the driver door in manana. The passenger....will not open at all.

you have taken your door panel off and checked correct? you said they were working the first few days, try starting all over. Maybe something came out of place that u cant see or aware of.

Door panels were never put on. I didnt change anything from when they were working until now.

u sure you put the rod in the right hole? i think theres two holes

ha ha ha ha ha. damn i hate when that **** happens. shes like, "wrong hole" an youre just like, "well you do it!" j/k i thought that was funny. oh, well. if the door panel is off, then you can play with the mechanism and get it to open. pull on the rod and push hard on the door.

I have been yanking on the rod and kicking the door. lol

I just installed new door handles on my EK a couple days ago. Try taking the lock cylinder out to make sure it is still all together the right way. There is a spring inside of it that does the locking and unlocking. It can come out very easily during a door handle swap.

with 93000 posts, youd think all you do is type. j/k all i know is i would bet you 100 bucks i could open that door. you say the door panel is off?? try pushing up on the rod and pushing the door. it moves different ways

Merrit, yeah the spring is functional on the driver side....but there is a little rubber...maybe rubber piece that slide up and down near the spring. It seems very touchy in that area. When I slide that thing up, it make some difference.

Door panel was never installed. I am pulling the rod....and kicking, friends pulling on the door. 2 people pulling the rod and 1 person kicking the door and pulling the door....I dunno. It is starting to become funny

how cold is it where you are? have you tried heating up the door/lock area? just an idea. also, try moving the rod up, down, or whatever. sometimes you can push it the wrong way and it wont do anything.
