is my civic a EG or EK im soooo n00b right now, i know a lil bit about civics but tons of stuff about other cars

my car specs (dont laugh)
1996 4 door EX
completely stock

(ordering: memoryfab intake: j's intake or w/e
exhaust, looking into them, if you have any recomends, please tell me
other stuff (cam, chip.....)

Umm you're wrong.

I drive a 98 ex coupe and it's an EJ8. EM1's are only 99-00 Si's and Eg's and Ek's are Japanese (some like to call it 'JDM') hatches. You really should do some more research before you give out false info.

My 99 Coupe is an EJ6 . . . . . anyway look at the VIN it says on there. There's also a huge thread on here somewhere that details all of the codes.

All that aside, most poeple will refer to any 92-95 Civic as an EG, and any 96-00 Civic as an EK.

many of us just use the Japanese chassis codes as an easier reference point, but like others said you got an EG.

EKs are waaaaay better than EGs

92-95 civics are refered to as EG's because of the EG6 Chassis code of the JDM civic SIR 2 hatchback in japan (best model made for that generation).

96-01 civics are refered to as EK's because of the EK9 Chassis code of the JDM civic Type R hatchback in japan (best model made for that generation).

Your actual chassis code is in your vin number like stated above, but if yours is a 96, people will know what your talking about if you refer to it as an EK. Don't mind the people in here, the just like to F with the noobs (you gotta pay your dues). Intakes can be tricky because there are at least two different types of intake systems for that generation of civic (there is at one model that has the throtle body pointing up). Just order an intake based on your engine code, and you won't have a problem.

thats sooo not true.......u need to learn the motor and work with it, in other words if i had the money i could get 400 hp out of my single cam motor, EASY, my family is a racing generation, (world records, and know to build things ) any motor is a good motor as long as u know it...
