Re: STUCK BETWEEN EGS AND EKS!
I would check out the honda/acura appearance forums, I'm sure there are threads dedicated to clean hatches. Honestly, get the one you like the looks of better, they both have pros and cons. EGs are lighter. No one on here knows your opinion better than you do.
Also, I don't know how old you are, but I would recommend finding one that's RUST FREE and mostly stock for your first car.

Re: STUCK BETWEEN EGS AND EKS!
Well, I'm kind of like you. I'm a senior in college, and don't have that much money. I would probably go with an "EK" if I were you because they're newer, and often have less rust issues. A newer car will most likely be worn less. I'm also biased because I have an "EK" coupe.
You could also take the approach of being happy with either, and get whichever one you can find that's clean and a good deal.

I also autox now, I mostly just have suspension upgrades. You can always do something like that now, and build it into more of a track car when you graduate and have more cash, that's my plan.

Re: STUCK BETWEEN EGS AND EKS!
i would say if your plans are something reliable i would say get a si hatch for the fact that if you get a dx cx vx you would say its to slow...so a si with i/h/e and pipping is what i would go with also since its your first car and your going to want to track it later on the si would be alot easier to swap then a ek or another eg dx cx ect...cause its just plug and play basically

Re: STUCK BETWEEN EGS AND EKS!
Personally, I like the EG hatch more.. I'm biased cause I own one, but I considered Ek hatches too but there was something about the EK chassis hatch that didn't sit right with me. I'd prefer a EK coupe over the hatch.
As for reliability, I would go with the EK since they are newer and are likely to have less issues do to wear and tear. You can find clean EG examples too but people want waaaaay to much for them cause everyone wants them. KBB said the EG hatches are worth $1000-2000 in good shape and I never saw one worth buying under $2500, a really clean example with under 150K on the ODO was going for $6000 on autotrade.
It'll end up running down to personal choice+cash in hand and availability

Re: STUCK BETWEEN EGS AND EKS!
yeah thats exaclty what i think!
as for reliability..its obvious that the newer
the better..and it seems like ek's are regularly only about a grand or so over an eg.!

Well, like a couple people have said here, take your time there is no rush, test drive an eg or ek and you'll know from there. Me, I drive a 97 Ek coupe, Ls/b18b1 swap turbocharge, I have a lot of fun with it, Im pretty sure you will too, Im also starting school pretty soon at UTI, for automotive tech
