Stripped threads on tophat studs

Stripped threads on tophat studs
I dont' even know if it's stripped threads. Basically I'm trying to get a nut off a stud, but the nut keeps spinning won't tighten nor loosen. Here's a video of what I mean. So lame, I can't even install a simple strut bar without some major hacking and replacing of the tophat. What could cause this? I made sure to tighten to the correct torque when installing the coilovers.

in the video, the nut does not look strip to me. looks like you using a too big of a size wrench. but if you say its strip, only thing i can think of is go to sears and buy yourself a set of craftsman strip sockets.

no, the nut itself is not stripped at all. I can grab it fine with the wrench and it spins perfectly fine. What it's not doing is that it's not catching on the threads

you need a ratchet. 
the threads of the nut stripped on mine a long time ago.
I took a vise grips and clamped it on the nut just enough to squeeze the nut. Then spun the visegrips (pointed up to clear the shock)
you can also cut the nut off and replace the stud in the tophat.
simple to do but you have to pull the spring.

nah i actually do have a ratchet, I just used the open ended wrench to show what's happening
But like i said, the nut itself is in good condition, it's the stud that's messed up I think.
But yeah, my only option right now is to cut the stud and nut off, and replace the tophat.

The wrench grabs the nut perfectly fine, and you can spin the nut clockwise or counterclockwise, but the nut just spins. It doesn't actually tighten or loosen, all it does is goes around and stays the same verticially on the stud.

can you remove your suspesion? if so take it out and go junkyard and find yourself a new top black covering thing. iono whats it called, tophat maybe. but you'll know what i mean if you pull your shocks out.

if the stud is stripped simply pull the other nut off and have someone pull down on the shock, or stand on the suspension yourself and spin the nut quickly. a thread will grab and spin the nut off.
tophat at junk yard - $5 (work required)
stud at parts store - $3 (same work required but you don't have to remove the tophat at the yard, also no promises that the "new" tophat will not have the same issue)
IMO, replace both studs to be sure you will not have this problem again.

I would have just taken a hacksaw to the nut and stud haha. I've asked omni if they can replace the entire tophat, just waiting for a reply.

Going with just one ground control tophat would be super ******* stupid. Bad advice, chief. With suspension, you need to keep symmetry at all costs.
