stripped shock allen key, plier scratched strut rod, need new one?
alright, so i bought an eg with tokico blues and shitty maxspeed coilovers, the ride was badly aligned and i figured it was the coilovers since the front left sleeve was cracked(and cuz its maxspeed..), so i was going to take it off and throw on my stock gsr springs. so i get to it, the allen key strips. i use pliers to grab the strut rod?(shiny part) and get the bolt almost all the way off, then my dad says the shock is messed up now because its scratched. so i stop and decide to research a little. also the shock is kind of greasy so guess its blown anyways? how can i tell if theyre blown? i need to check the other 3 for grease in the morning if thats a sign theyre blown. im not looking to put much money into this car, is the shock still good if its scratched on the rod? or can i throw an integra stock shock or an autozone shock on there with the other 3 still being tokico blues? im thinking tomorrow ill try to find some vise grips that can hold the shaft for real since the plier wasnt holding very well and getting that nut all the way off and try to reuse that tokico blue. if its still a shitty ride with the new gsr springs i guess i need new shocks too?.. sucks..

if you can move your rear end up and down really easy by pushing on the trunk, your rear shocks are prolly blown.

ok found a vise grip and took that front left shock/coilover apart. that shocks pretty much blown cuz i push down on the shaft and it doesnt have any resistance(gas?). so im going to try to throw my stock integra shock on it. ok for 1 stock integra shock and 3 tokico blues on an eg? i hope those other 3 arent blown..

The tokico struts have a label on them that says:
WARNING DO NOT TOUCH THE STRUT ROD WITH ANY TOOLS, DOING SO WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
if you've taken pliars to it, kiss that strut good bye, that'll break the seal inside the piston and spray grease everywhere....you're fooked.
Was it the front or the rear? I may have a couple extra rear blues for sale......

it was the front left.. i still have to check if the other 3 are blown.. if they are, i think id rather get new shocks/springs for my integra, and take the stock shocks / neuspeed springs from there and put it onto the eg. thanks for the help so far guys

is it just me or are stock integra springs a bitch to compress? usually when i change to lowering springs i can just push down on it really hard while somebody else screws the bolt on, but with this i cant get it to compress at all pushing. i tried to use the longer spring for the front because that seems to be the major consensus, but it was really hard so i used the shorter one for the front.. hope its ok for temp..

thanks for the offer man. ok so this is the status so far. eg hatch, front left is stock integra gsr spring and shock. passenger front and both rears are tokico blues and shitty maxspeed coilovers. took it for a test spin, the integra shock/spring is SUPER low. ride is still pretty bouncy and alignment is still bad. i know it doesn help that the front left doesnt match the rest. im still not sure if the other 3 blues are blown.so i am thinking, get new springs and 1 shock if the other 3 are still good, or get all new springs / shocks, or, get new springs/shocks for my integra and switch that stuff over to the eg (stock integra shocks / neuspeed sports) *sigh*
