Stripped screw holding distributor rotor help
I'm trying to change my cap & rotor on my 98, I think its the first time its ever been changed. I stripped the screw because it was so tight . Anyone have an idea of what I can do to remove it? Thanks

get an impact driver. its the hand held dealie that when you set the direction, you set the phillips bit into the screw and you smach it with a hammer this downward motion not only hold the bit in, but a mechinism inside makes it rotate a ltitle, so you can get the screw out. normally these are commonly used for the screws that seize when you are trying to removed a brake disc or drum.

Re: Stripped screw holding distributor rotor help (fastrc2)
I had the same problem with my Si a while back when I was replacing the ignitor. The best way may be to use an impact driver. I tried using a variety of other tools and none seemed to work well at all. Good luck.

deff. impact driver, or ive used klein crimping tools to bite into it to turn it. you can break the rotor off and take off the insulator to get to it better. then just put a new rotor back.
