One of the things I like most about the Honda CiViC is when you push it hard, it DOESN'T do anything. That is, you dump the clutch at a stop light - slam it through the gears - a block or two later some 'suit' in a Chevy Suburban passes you with a cell phone glued to his ear. He doesn't even realize you were 'racing' him, but that's okay. In your mind you just beat a SUV!
That's why 'street racers' put intakes and exhausts on their CiViC - so other ppl can tell if your're 'racing' them or not. It's impossible to tell otherwise. It's great!
By comparison, I have an 1150cc ESF Suzuki M/C. It has roughly the same horsepower as my CiViC, but weighs 2000 lbs. less. When you nail it at a stoplight, you'd better be sure nobody is in front of you for the next 6 blocks, 'cause that's how long it's going to take you to slow down when you're done accelerating.
Anyway, IMHO, it's fun 'racing' a car that makes a lot of noise and doesn't go any place; almost relaxing!
It'a a Honda thing, dude...

I am always being accused of hijacking threads, so I thought I would post my reply as a seperate thread. Now, you guys don't like that either.
You can't have it both ways, bish.
Discuss it here - hijack threads - makes no difference to me...

good thing about driving a stock civic, is u can take off from a light as fast as u can, bang through all the gears, and no cops notice u

Exactly! CiViC's are more of a nuisance to society than a threat...

v. raced, rac·ing, rac·es
v. intr.
Sports. To compete in a contest of speed.
To move rapidly or at top speed: We raced home. My heart was racing with fear.
To run too rapidly due to decreased resistance or unnecessary provision of fuel: adjusted the idle to keep the engine from racing.

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

BDC's a good guy, the only thing is people just don't want to learn how to do with the normal...post/reply. It makes sense posting about this.
Edit- that makes no sense..haha. What I'm saying is that it's better to start a thread with a different idea relating to another thread, rather than taking over the other thread. Make sens meow?

Re: 'Street Racing' in a stock CiViC... (b16a ferio)
I am gonna also have to agree that this post seems to have no point to it....
Guy 'races' his stock EX w/auto against a stock DX w/stick.
Guy is upset 'cause DX cleans his clock; thinks it's 'cause he has a slushbox.
Here comes the "hope you don't race on the street" ****, like a CiViC goes fast enough to hurt anything except itself.
Question: How can you tell if two stock CiViC's are 'street racing?'
Answer: You can't, if they are stock.
Next comes the "CiViC's are not a racecar" comments. Duh!
My point is, I like driving a Honda CiViC because it's totally worthless as a high-performance vehicle, not because it is. You can race ppl all day long and they don't even know it. This is a great feature, IMHO. You can't say that about other cars on the road. That's what makes Honda CiViC's stand out in a crowd...
Get it now?
