not many people die because of it, maybe a couple idiots but there are idiots in everything, and street racing is certainly more safe than drunk driving, doing drugs, playing with fire, organizing mass brawls or participating in riots. hell most of the time street racing is done in a very unpopulated area
im not saying its bad or good, im just saying theres no reason to hate on people for doing it.
and im talking about organized street racing here, not just off the ball stop light to stop light racing in the middle of a populated area because that is just stupid

i dont see how even the biggest moron could manage to find a tree when racing on a road thats in the middle of nowhere and big enough to support 2 cars.
street racing and testing your cars limits on a windy road are 2 completely different things
and most of the time organized street racing doesnt happen every night because the cops catch on too quick

Ok correct me if I'm wrong, but in a typical quarter mile a car can reach speeds in excess of 90+ mph ... At speeds like those wouldn't you have the equivilent reaction time to a drunk if someone pulled out in front of you? It's against the law for a reason, just like why there are speed limit signs and other RULES and REGULATIONS that a typical citizen is required to follow... It's not only dangerous to the driver, it's dangerous to their passengers, the opponent, anyone else on the road, a ******* 12 year old girl on the sidewalk... Wouldn't you feel like **** if you hit some 12 year old girl crossing the road and killed her just because you wanted to show off your car?
They make tracks and strips for racing so you don't have to do it on the road... On the strip you're allowed to mod your car to hell however you please to get that couple tenths of a second shaved off... Why not do it there where you have more options and it's a lot safer and you don't risk getting busted (or killed) and you get the same ******* rush?
Idn, I'm rambling, but it makes sense to me and I'm sure it makes sense to others...

yes, its not bullet proof, but most of the time safety precautions are taken at street racing events.
the track is a better place to go however, i will never deny that, but i really dont see any reason to hate on an organized street race.
the only problem with the track is the $$ it takes to get in. Most people dont want to spend however much it costs to race, in my case it is $15 to race on wednesday nights, i dont have a problem with that, but a lot of people do. For example: skate parks, its illegal to skate in a lot of places, and then they set up a skate park for everyone then they start to charge people to go in, would u rather skate illegaly and run the low risk of getting your board taken by the cops, or pay $4 to get into the local skate park every day, especially when the local people tax dollar is being spent to build that park and then the city starts charging the people to get in, its ludacris.

Because this is what happens to you street racing Homo's:
As for street racing... Not saying I don't do it from time to time, I do...but I'm trying to stop.
The problem with the organized street racing is that people are right on top of the action. Iif something goes wrong, a lot of people can get hurt. Again, I'm not hating, just thinking that going to the track is better.

Those have to be two of the most ignorant things Ive heard. You say street racing is more safe thank drunk driving but nobody on here is claiming that drunk driving is good.
You compare street racing to skateboarding? Nobody kills innocent people because they were skateboarding.

Too many people hate on street racing for stupid reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these haters were the ******** who do that weaving crap in traffic either (now that's something to be pissed off about). And are all your modifications done to your cars legal also? I didn't think so. So what is this,"it is illegal crap." People take risks, it's a part of life. If you absolutely must not suffer the consequences of whatever activity that may facilitate it, then don't participate in it.

I'm sorry, I lost where you were getting at. But stop light races also take place on public streets which means other vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, etc.

the thought of getting caught and running from cops doesnt appeal to me. someone i know got caught racing. his punishment was one month car impound, suspended license, and no more R. the bill from the impound is gonna cost an arm and a leg.

heres my .02 on it
its not worth it.
why risk
1) killing yourself
2) killing somebody else, then going to jail
3) killing somebody you love
4) totaling your car
5) getting a ticket that IS NOT CHEAP
6) having car impounded
7) possibly losing licence.
its just not worth it.
keep it on the track. thats what its there for.
edit: and in some states, its a FELONY now.

the people who die from street racing are idiots...
