Default Strange tire wear question.

I was under my car (94 EX) tonight and noticed my front tires are worn almost completely bald on the inside. It looks like camber wear, but my suspension is all stock. I guess my camber could be screwed up anyway, though. The tires haven't been rotated as often as they should've been , but I figure that would wear the whole tire, not just the inside. So, do you guys think this was caused by me not rotating the tires often enough, or is it something else? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

i am guessing its your camber, is your tires slanted ? if so thats whats causing it or if your ride height is really low that can be the problem for the failure of the camber kit,

It's all stock, though. That's why it's strange.

rotating the tires, perhaps. that is, if it's all stock. camber sounds like it needs to be fixed tho. wheels butterflying?

if your toe adjustment is off, even if the suspension is stock, you will get weird tire wear patterns. change your tires asap b/c they will perform like *** in the rain, and then get an alignment... youll be all set

Oh they do perform like *** in the rain. Now maybe I know why. I hate to take it anywhere, but oh well. Thanks for the info.

An alignment should definitely do the trick. Keeping your tires rotated will promote even wear and will help keep the alignment in check

Do you have aftermarket rims? If so, check the offset. When I was younger, I took some rims off an old car of mine and stuck them on my Civic. Took me a while to figure out why my tires were bald on the inside and 1/2 tread on the outside.

could it be improper inflation?

I had the exact same problem with mine... 10k on new tires and the innermost ring was bald. Took it to Honda, they did the full allignment and found a bit of toe out.

Replaced the front tires that day and have put another 25k on them and they still look brand new.

how would offset affect the tirewear? isn't offset just how far the wheel extends beyond the hub?

If your car is stock height, its your camber kit. You need to get your car re alligned. cost about 65 bucks for 4 wheel allignment.

There is no camber kit, the suspension is stock, not just stock height. But I'm definitely getting an alignment and new tires. I just don't understand why the tires would do this unless there's some way you can screw up the camber on stock suspension.

Think about it some. Offset is how far the wheel extends from the hub but if the offset is too off without the wheel being the proper width, you are putting more pressure/strain on the inside/outside of the wheel & tire. You can basically change your camber by the wheels not being the proper offset. I ran a set of tires for 10k miles and didn't catch it until I had a blowout from where it wore through the belt on the inside of the tire.
