strange sound when turning
when i make a turn at low speeds, the car makes a weird noise, kinda like a woo woo noise (no, not whistling, haha) but it sounds like an owl or something, and the steering wheel vibrates. the passenger side CV boot was broken and i thought it might have been that, so i changed the whole axle, but its still there. i havetn changed my tranny fluid in a while, could that have soemthing to do with it? or maybe the steering rack?

Re: strange sound when turning (Wazup)
Could be a bad wheel bearing or balljoint or bushing. Raise that corner off of the ground and check and see if you have play in your wheel by trying to shake it with both hands, left to right and then up and down. If not then maybe your brake dust shield is hitting the rotor? HTH

At some point take out the wheel bearing assembly and spin it you will know by the grinding and wobbling feel not generally associated with bearings that its bad.
Usually the thing sounds like "truck tires" when going into a turn.

Re: strange sound when turning (IDriveHonda)
How much would it coes to replace a wheel bearing. Don't think I have time to go out and get replacements from yard, if that would even be advisable. How much would it run me shop wise, I realize it varies from state to state, but an estimate from anyone who knows would be appreciated, thanks.

i just changed my wheel bearing couple of months ago. the actual bearing costs costs 45 bucks from autozone. and like 75 bucks labor. its not really somethign you do yourself, unless you know how all the stuff comes off and goes back on on your wheel hub area.
u can tell if its the bearing if you, like the guy above mentioned, jack up your car and shake your tire from left to right or up and down, it shouldnt move at all, it it moves, its most likely a busted wheel bearing!

Re: strange sound when turning (INVALID)
Yes, this is no wheel bearing problem. I checked everything out and it's definitely a more of a tire problem

Maybe sometimes however I just had a wheel bearing problem and the first thing I did was that. Everything seemed great so I looked into a couple other possibilities and everything there was great.......
So back to the wheel bearing, BTW never done one before but its so easy it was funny (need a 32 mm socket though) Once I had that assembly in my hand and spun it there was no doubt that it was toast.
Total project time is maybe 30-45 minutes. I do have a garage with air tools and what not however.

Re: strange sound when turning
Did you ever find out what the issue was? My Honda is making the same noise. And my mechanic can’t figure it out bc I can only replicate the noise after driving after going over the speed bump at my apartments.
