Strange sound - kinda knock, kinda not
Hello all, I have a 93 del sol SI with a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC that I've been restoring, and when I bought the car, it had a slight "rattle sound" that both me and my mechanic friends looked past because it didnt sound like a big deal. Im not sure if its gotten worse or if im just hearing things, but its a slight knock sound that seems to sit right below the distributor. Doesnt happen when the car is first started or when the accelerator is pressed, you can only hear it at idle. I'm worried its a bad rod bearing. Car overheated 3/4th way but i changed the thermostat and it hasnt done it since.
I know this is vague and you would need a video clip to actually hear it.

If it is rod bearing, I gotta find the cheapest way to fix it. Block swap?

I think I found out what it was. Input shaft bearing. Noise goes away when the clutch is depressed. Whew.
