Strange rev/throttle/idle issue with my B16A2
While out today I started to get odd throttle response and my idle was about 500-700RPMs too high. I would lightly touch the gas and it'd get jumpy. I had to take off a little quicker to keep it from jumping. Here's a video of it sitting still and me giving it light gas. It revs fine once it gets past a certain point.

While I was out I parked it, cut it off, restarted it, and it quit doing it. When I left, part way home, it started doing it again. When I got home, I took the video. I turned it off and started it again and it quit doing it. I took another video of it being normal. Nothing appears out of the ordinary then.

What the hell is going on?
*oh and that CEL should just be for Code 91. Hatches don't FTP sensors and I have P2T that isn't chipped or anything.

my friend had similar problem with his 93 accord.
he replaced wires n plugs n it worked fine after that.
im not saying this is positivly the right thing to do.
and check the throttle cable make sure it didnt fall off the holder for it on the engine.
when the car is on idleing that high, go in the engine, and move the throttle all the way to 0 position and let it go, and if that fixed teh problem, then spray wd40 on it.

well see, twice after cutting the car off and starting it up again, the problem went away. The first time only helped temporarily and I haven't driven the car since the second time. Does that make any difference?

Make sure you didnt mix up your TPS and MAP sensor plugs, which isnt hard to do, they are both 3-wire plugs that are about the same shape, and do fit into the other's socket.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
well.........there's no way in hell I could have done that cause I've had the car 8 months with no changes under the hood other than oil + filter, the intake, and fog light wiring and this just started today. Thanks for the info though.

K, just ruling out options here.
What CEL light codes are you getting that i see there?
Sounds like a TPS issue if throttle is that jumpy and insensitive.
EDIT: After reviewing video, ive had that prob before, its TPS related, it doenst pick up for the low end for some reason, causing it to have a jumpy rev, until it goes far enough to pick it up. Play around with the TPS, make sure its tight. If no improvments come from that, look into replacing it.

in my OP I said that CEL is for code 91 FTP Sensor. Hatches don't have that but the P2T doesn't know it's in a hatch and not an Si. BUT there may be more than one code now. I don't know. Oh well, just more problems piling up.
I'll get it figured out soon I guess. I'll update when I drive it again.

Well I drove it for a while today trying to recreate the conditions from yesterday and the problem didn't show up. The only difference from yesterday is that it was clear and dry out today. Yesterday it was wet out. It was raining on and off.

Well I was out again and it started giving me this crap again so I still need help with it. More than one person thinks it might be a vacuum line. What do ya'll think? Which line could be the culprit?

Hard to tell, best you can do is spray the lines down with soapy water, and look for where its bubbling at, or just good ol fashion searching by hand.

okay, I be this has absolutely nothing to do with it but can crappy gas cause this. Last time I filled up, i filled up at a place I never have before and I drove the car on the interstate that day. The weird stuff started 2 days later. I still had half a tank when I filled up so I only put 15 bucks worth of 93 in. But you know those single nozle pumps, maybe more 87 got in my 93 than at the place I usually fill up. I don't know, just throwin something out there cause my dad and a friend of mine both said try injector cleaner.

OK, my brother who is a mechanic and an ASE certified parts specialist came over today and said it might be the throttle position sensor. He also pointed out other problems I didn't even notice. He says he thought he heard a slight misfire, and he thinks something is up with the idle motor. To top it all off I need brake work and a tune up too.
DAMN IT!!! just when I was about to get my replacement hatch door painted and installed. Now I can't afford it.

Re: (Techy)
i would do a tune up and check ur throttle cable. if the throttle gets stuck ull have that weird idle and jumping problem ur having. clean ur throttle body and grease the spring and do a tune up and ull be fine. problem should go away im almost 100% sure. its happened to me before.

Re: (cartune network)
can someone get me a pic of the idle motor and where it is on the intake manifold?
Well, me and my brother are gonna do a tune up and some brake work on it so maybe it'll be fine then. I may already have gotten around that bouncin rev. Since I filled up again yesterday, it hasn't done it. Me and my brother were tryin to get it to. I drove it for a full hour straight today trying to get it to d it and it wouldn't. maybe it's that Techron in Texaco's premium
