Strange Rattling Please Help!!!
Hey guys need some input and help troubleshooting, I've got a 94 civic DX with the D15B7 (garbage I know) it's my commuter right now, 5 spd, I had the head professionally rebuilt and adjusted, replaced the piston rings, and corrected jacked up wiring left from previous owner, I have a strange rattling that only happens while driving and from 0-2500 rpm, and when reaching fifth gear if I lean on it the rattling starts again, and ontop of that while driving home last night I was downshifting on the off ramp and all of sudden the lights dimmed and motor died, tried to start it and wouldn't turn over, then today a buddy jumped me and it started right up, just curious if anyone has had the same rattle? It's driving me insane!

I've literally been racking my brain and did the normals, I was reading it could be the water pump bearing, main input shaft bearing, or heat shield?! I just can't figure out why it only happens at that RPM and not while in neutral or standing still!

but those arent going to make your car die. i always thought the ISB is more of a whining noise instead of a rattle if that makes sense. heat shield possibly. going down the road there are more things happening then just sitting. road vibrations higher rpms etc.. heat shield is easy fix. you can just bend it with your hand. it could be rattling against the exhaust or the shift linkage
