Dont try tuning yourself, not before you do some reading anyways. If you dont even have the common sense to find and read the owners manual for the VAFC, I'd say at best you'll end up either A)killing your engine, or B)Getting it to run really rich.

Learn the books before you modify.

Do NOT change any of the settings on the VAFC. You will NEED to get it tuned at a professional shop that does computer tuning. If you change anything on the VAFC, you WILL do damage to your engine, without a doubt.

i agree... DO NOT change any of the fuel settings. most people play around with the vtec engagement point and most of the time, lose power... until they find out they lose power, then change it again, and gain power... learn from your mistake... i don't think you wanna learn from your mistake... get a wideband... or go to a shop.

the manual that comes with it is crap. Its almost worthless.

My friend just got one on his turbo'ed 98 ex and has just been making fuel corrections but I have a feeling that he is missing something and may mess something up along the way.

Yes, heres what you do:

Ask some local drivers where they get their tuning done. Get the name of the shop they use, or narrow one down out of a few choices. Then acquire said shops phone number. Call the shop or stop by at their office and schedule a time to come by and dyno tune. They will tune it for you, using the correct tools and knowledge.

that's right... i tried to help... but you said the manual's useless... since you're right, there's no hope... the manual's useless so no one could possibly know how to use it because that's all you get when you buy a vafc2! so i have a little plastic thing with a transparent screen and a bunch of wires with instructions that are useless... can't really help if that's all i got.

I have been to forums where people bend over backwards to help others out. Some members here are really helpful and its appreciated by lots. others are well....lacking.

Anyways

i wasn't trying to be funny... nor was i trying to be a smartass. i'm sorry if i offended you by stating that the manual did work for me but not for you... maybe i got a us vafc2 and you got a japanese vafc2? once again... sorry if i'm sounding sarcastic... and kid... i'm trying to help... don't adjust the fuel corrections... at least use a wideband when doing so... if you wish to do so yourself... that's the most help i would offer on tuning a very critical item on the forums.
