Default stolen/recovered cars

ok, i been looking for a honda that i can easily pay off and start working on.
my friend and i found a 92/93? civic ex coupe at an auction lot. the car has a stolen/recovered title, the inside is gutted out, the engine ( as far as we know is missing the header), headlights, tail lights and corner lights are missing. imo, i think this is a good car to ****** up for a reasonable price. on the other hand, a friend of my other friend says im a complete idiot for buying a stolen civic. his rules are as follows:

rule of thumb here guys...
no.1 Dont buy a civic
no.2 Dont buy a stolen civic
no.3 just dont

hackbatch <---Complete Idiot, going to buy a stolen/recovered civic.

anyways, so im just wondering what you people think. Is it bad to buy a stolen/recovered civic?

thanks for reading.

from what you described... ya your dumb... jfwy.

Recovered cars can be great and they can be AWFUL... I'm working on buying recovered teg's to strip for parts. but a civic is essentially worthless as far as the frame/susp. goes... I mean if it's under 800 bucks for a stripped one then ya that's great... but if you mean like 1-2k... DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT...

you could buy one that need minor body work for less than that.

Also keep in mind HOW MUCH WORK your in for if you start with something like that... and not just that but the GOOD chance that when yer done or close to done you find out that something major is wrong that you didn't notice... (bent frame.. electrical fire gutting wires etc...)

have you heard the expression "can of worms"?

i am hackbatch's friend who helped find the civic...

1. it has a stolen/recovered theft title

2. from what i can tell, the interior is in tact, other than two seats and a shift ****

3. it's a d16y engine....missing exhaust manifold (lazy theifs stole the DC header BUT forgot to take the DC downpipe )

4. has power mirrors and a moonroof...there are minimal body damages other than a pass. side fender (which i can have replaced cheap)

5. it's rolling on all four donuts and missing headlights/corners as well as outer taillights

i am by no means a naive person, and i really feel that this car (93 EX) has potential and can be revived with a few hundred $$'s......i was thinking of paying no more than $1000 for the car

sounds good to me.... you could get jdm headlights/corners for about 100 and the outer tails you could prbbly pick up used for close to nothing...

As for the seats... great time for some teg seats...

overall that sounds IDEAL.

Yeah, if it is less than $700 or $800 it might be worth it. I know my buddy won't spend much more than that on them. He has a 95 EX right now that is almost all put back together that he is selling for less than $4k, with a fresh paint job.
