your insurance will total it if it cost more to fix than the actual worth. 7000$ is madness...

No, sorry for not being clear.

They totaled it and have paid me, but I could buy it back if I wanted. The list is the missing parts, So i'm wondering if whats left of the car is worth buying back?

that list looks long, but it doesn't sound like they took THAT much stuff. could've been worst. your insurance company didn't offer you a price to buy it back at? usually they do that.

Uhmmm, one thing that stood out to me is them replacing your ABS control unit. Unless you have a canadian Si/our EX you don't have ABS.
Also, why the **** would they steal all that looksy **** and leave the motor?

How much did they give you? If they offer you a buyback of less than what you can sell the motor for, I'd go for it. Either sell the motor, or throw it into a new shell. I wouldn't go putting yours back together, it'll cost around what was quoted, and it will have a salvage title; pretty much throwing your money away doing that.

When you buy back a car its usually cheap.... i just totalled my JRSC EX coupe, and I bought it back for $40.00 and they gave me the blue book on the car.

Exactly if it is a few hundred bucks buy it back! If you want to part it out ok but really if they gave you a few thousand back turn it into a track car and buy a DD. Then don't worry about all the interior and stuff like that it is just extra weight. If the body is still in good shape that is. Post some pics of what it looks like now maybe. Just another thought for you to think about.

It depends on the price they want for it. If it's anything around $2k or less, I would buy it back just for the motor/tranny, and whatever else is left on it.

That's just my opinion, but yes, I would buy it back at that price.

Even if you wanted to rebuild the thing, you would have far less in it than the repair estimate that you listed above.

Here's a brief rundown of how I see your actual repair cost (and assuming you repair it yourself):

STEERING COLUMN/GEAR
REPLACE STEERING COLUMN Used/Recycled ($100.00)

FRONT BUMPER COVER ($75.00)
FRT BUMPER IMPACT CUSHION ($25?)
FRT BUMPER SPOILER (lip $50)
COMPLETE GRILLE: ($50)

ABS/BRAKES
REPLACE ABS CONTROL UNIT $416.67 (I don't know about this, you may have to buy new from dealer)

REPLACE WHEELS, you can buy a whole set with tires for around $500

REPLACE AIR CLEANER CASE 75.00

ELECTRICAL
REPLACE BATTERY 49.99*

REPLACE MAIN COMPUTER MODULE (ECU's can be had for $250 or less)

INSTRUMENT PANEL (new Si gauge cluster: $250)

REPLACE INST PANEL A/C & HEATER CONTROL (Climate control unit $100 max)

CENTER CONSOLE
REPLACE FRT CTR CONSOLE ASSY ($30)
REPLACE REAR CTR CONSOLE ASSY (Armrest, $50)
REPLACE CTR CONSOLE BOOT ($10)

FRONT DOOR
REPLACE R FRT DOOR POWER MIRROR
REPLACE L FRT DOOR POWER MIRROR (Can usually buy mirrors as a set for $50 or so)

REPLACE L FRT DOOR SPEAKER GRILLE $10
REPLACE L FRT DOOR MOVEABLE GLASS ($171.55 I suppose that's about right, or you can find glass in a junkyard for $75)

REPLACE DRIVERS SEAT
REPLACE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT (buy both for $200)

REPLACE REAR SEAT-COMPLETE (buy them $75)

REPLACE RT FRONT TIRE TYPE:
REPLACE LT FRONT TIRE TYPE:
REPLACE RT REAR TIRE TYPE:
REPLACE LT REAR TIRE TYPE: (Included with rims if you bought rim/tire package)

ADD'L LABOR OP 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT 79.99* 0.0 *
ADD'L LABOR OP MOUNT & BALANCE 48.00* 0.0 *
ADD'L LABOR OP VALVE STEM [10.00* 0.0 *

REPAIR RECODE LOCK CYLINDER 54.00* 0.0 *
REPAIR DETAIL INTERIOR (Do that yourself)

REPLACE CARPET - COMPLETE 149.99* 2.0 *

I. Total Labor: Free, you did it yourself
II. Total Replacement Parts: $2900 (approximate)

You said the engine is untouched, right? And you’re looking for an EK shell?
If the buyback is cheaper than buying a new B16, then do it and drop it in a nice hatch. Then sell your shell for scraps and use the extra money for what ever.

You can easily resell your motor back for $2000. Then part out any other parts that might still be on there plus the shell can be sold seperately also.

I'd buy it back for 2k. Try to get them to give it to you lower though.

They do this everyday, chances are they know what your car is worth. I bet they try to sell it back to you for 3-4k, which I don't think I'd take, up to you of course.
