Yeah you take it out there is no need for it with a short ram as far as I know. To take it out you just undo all the bolts and it comes out. Go get a Helms or other manual from the library if you need to know where all the connections are.

you don't have to take it out, its not doing any thing sitting in its factory position. If you want to make your engine bay look clean take it out. It will require you to take off your front bumper, then slide it down. Or you can get a saw and cut it in half, thats what we did when I had my 99 mrp em1.

I didn't do any cutting when i took my stock intake out. What i did was just jack the front end up a bit and wiggled the peice out the bottom. Peice of cake and only took a couple minutes. No need to remove the bumper.

when i had my 99 si if i recall correctly the u shaped resonator was caught on something. So instead of jacking up the car we just cut a portion of it off, and pulled it out.--your right I don't think we took the bumper off for that, none the less the bumper was off during the install--
