just buy the si climate control bulbs. they come with a orange cover on them which makes it illuminate amber. they are about $3 - $4 each at honda.

You mean like this
I did the rear window defroster switch too, it just didn't make it into any of the good pictures. It is really hard to hold a camera still when taking night shots since the shutter stays open so long.

Getting the 99-00 Si bulbs is the easy part.
Taking apart the dash to get to the climate control bulbs is a PITA!!!
Looks great when finished though!!
Keep in mind that you use the orange Si rubbers on the OEM bulbs since the 99-00 Si bulbs don't fit in the 96-98 Civics. Just swap the orange with the blue ones......

the blue cover is already on ur climate control bulbs. That's is why they are green.
blue cover on halogen yellow= green.

Well...the stock climate control bulbs come with a blue cover already on them...and Trey is right, the climate control is a total pain to remove...

Re: Stock hatchy climate control WHO HAS MADE IT AMBER??? HOW Did you go about it? (VoltageLS)
My car is an EK. Think someone said it was an EG.
Taking the climate control is a pain. I don't know if Trey and Voltage did it, but I changed all the LEDs in the climate control too. And that required disassembly of the actual climate control unit.
The defroster switch is tricky. There are two bulbs in there, one for illumination, and one to show that it is on. The problem is, the bulbs are tiny tiny. So you have to glue the gelcap on the bulb used for illumination (has blue cap).
What Trey meant was that the SI bulbs wont fit the 96-98 climate control. So you take the blue gel caps off your stock bulbs, and put the orange gel caps from the si bulbs. You don't use the SI bulbs themselves.
And if you get 3 si bulbs, you will have enough to do the two in the climate control, and the one for the defroster switch.
Tom, the Nakamichi came from a local stereo shop over here. Most Nakamichi decks arent dual illumination, so you need to specify amber illumination if you want it. Lucky for me, he had ONE in stock.

Thanks for the help Tony.
As for the EG, you get the 99-00 Si bulbs and do the same thing with the EG bulbs, swap the blue gel caps with the orange gel caps. The 99-00 Si bulbs won't fit in the EG.
Basically the same swap as the EK listed above.

Is it possible to swap the gel caps from the bulbs? I took out the bulbs on my usdm gauge cluster and could not take off the gel cap with out breaking it all up. Can you remove the bulbs themselves from the black housing? Thanx.

Re: Stock hatchy climate control WHO HAS MADE IT AMBER??? HOW Did you go about it? (jdmhatch)
when the gelcaps get old, they get stuck to the bulbs and get brittle. If you get new bulbs, the gelcaps will pull right off, just like a condom
