Stock EM1, axle popping out of tranny?
Ok so I'm driving to school this morning, halfway there I go to leave a red light and my car doesnt move.. I popped my hood and seen the axle on the passenger side was popped out and I couldn't get it back in so I had the car towed home.. Went and replaced the axle with a new one, put everything back together, pull out of my driveway, same thing happens again..! This is an all stock EM1 and nothing has been altered or modified anyhow.. I've searched and found no help.. Something is obviously not right here so I will just assume it's probably my tranny? I never race it, never grind it, etc, and the cars driven perfectly fine up until now with no precursors of a faulty trans or w/e... Thanks..

No I'm not the original owner but I've owned the car for 2 years and it has 118k miles on it...
And my mounts are all fine, no vibrations or anything and everything seems straight visually..?? What would mounts have to do with it, I've not yet been asked to check them by anyone else.. And I got them from Autozone under the lifetime warranty program..
Thanks for feedback guys..!

excessive engine movement but it would have to be the rear one(fully shot) or the 2 bolt's that go into the T bracket at the back gone. you "hammered" the axel all the way in correct so that there's like 1/2 an inch room between the inboard joint and tranny. C-clip was still on when you installed it right, that's what holds the inboard joint along with the spindle bolt. only thing that comes to mind is that it's not seating properly(clipping).

Yes and Yes... I hammered it in nice and tight and the C-Clip was still in tact and on the end when I inserted it into the tranny.. One of my local mechanic friends said that it's probably my differential and that sometimes they develop a groove in them and will no longer hold the c-clip in place..?? Sound legit..?? I'm thinkin he may be right because this is the 2nd time this has happened (3rd counting this mornings incident).. But it hadn't happened in months though which is the ironic part..?

Morning bump... If anyone has heard of this grooving of the differential causing axles to pop out I'd love to hear it..

Thanks Schister66 I'd appreciate it brother..!! My friend said he has a whole slough of differentials at his shop, so worst case scenario is I just replace the diff but I'm really not tryna do all that on the weekend where I'm supposed to be relaxing lol..

I had the same issues with my old B16 tranny. But it wasn't until I put my ITR LSD in. I bought a new ITR axle (thinking matching the axle to the diff would help) and spread the c-clip waaaay out. I had to grease up the shaft a little bit and smack it good to pop in, but it never fell out again. I'm sure the guys who stole my car were like WTF this axle is stuck.

Lol man I was thinking that same thing..!! As in, if it pops out again I'll try to pry that c-clip open a bit more to cover a larger circumference inside that groove..! I'm sure I could just replace the differential but I'm really just tryna relax after working over 75hrs this week..
