STOCK D16Z6 Compression help
I have a stock D16Z6, 280,000 mi on it. I recenty rebuilt the head and lapped the valves and valve seats, cleaned all carbon deposits. I just did a compression test on all cylinders, all plugs out and throttle wide open. Numbers are:
1- 205
2- 205
3- 195
4- 205
Are these numbers normal for my engine? They seem high to me, I'm not complaining, but I'm just not sure if it's normal or not.
Haynes manual and other places I've checked said "standard" is 184, minimum is 135, with max variance of 28 or less. Thanks for the help.

looks better than perfect to me, but then it all depends on how you do it.
The correct method is to warm up the engine, remove all plugs, wide open throttle, crank 3 to 5 times only.
Doesn't look like you have any problems with that engine except for a little wear in cyl.3 maybe, not enough to worry about.

ok, cool. i just wasnt sure if it was a fluke or what. I did pull all plugs, and held throttle wide open. however, i did test it with the engine cold, or somewhat cool- not warmed up to operating temperature. i would think you would get less desirable results with a cold engine because of the rings not warmed up and expanding, but im not a pro at all the meticulate details. theoretically, it should only be higher when its warm, so decent numbers when cold should still be ok, right? i can try testing it again when its warmed up, and compare the results.
