Stock 92 CX wont start? 5$ paypal if you figured it out!
I've had this problem forever now. First it really wouldnt start, then i swapped the fuel pump - worked for awhile.
Now, every couple of weeks it just wont start. It goes like this EVERY time:
Car wont start, just turns over.
Car starts, up to 1200 or so rpm - then dies no matter what I do within seconds.
Car starts but doesnt jump from 0 rpm and dies again. Car turns over doesn't start. Car starts but doesnt jump from 0 rpm and dies again. Rinse repeat.
Plugs and wires are <5k miles OEM.
Then after a couple of days, or even sometimes hours it will work fine again. Just sucks because I have no way to get to work constantly. Car normally idles VERY low if that helps at all. 400-600 rpm.
What is the problem?

If your RPMs dont move but the car starts then it is an ignition problem (usually caused by a bad ignitor)

sounds like a vacuum or distributor. if i still had my b8 in my cx i would look at it. if there is a mechanical issue let me know and i can send the part to you. i have the entire engine sitting in my yard.
also, check your grounds. not just looking but take them off and wire-brush them.

your gonna laugh but check the main fuel relay i think that might be the culprit because if it does turn over not the starter it has power not the dizzy because it sparks(all though id be careful with this 2 because honda dizzy sometimes with juice one time to give you spark and immediately die). The reason I say the main fuel relay is because your car is firing randomly.

how do I check the main fuel relay?
I'm going to go out now and check the grounds. How many should I be looking for?

main relay - how to fix it --> http://www.marklamond.co.uk/te...y.htm (be sure to follow the links to the left for a step by step, your main relay is located over the fuse box)
ignitor or coil in the distributor.

Re: (civicb16eg)
up again, worked that day - then did it to me again yesterday.
Where can I get the main fuel relay? Maybe I'll pick it up and just swap it out because it's probably cheap and I can eliminate that as a factor.
As an aside- the car is running very rich as well. Unsure if maybe its related. 30 MPG in stock CX.

Sounds like a Main Relay,
Clean out your IACV, check your fuel pump.
Check your vacuum lines & distributor for anything out of the ordinary.
& if possible, do a compression test.
I dont care about the $5, just trying to help you get back on the road..

Yea im on this MAIN RELAY train as well...thats what i believe it is...
I also could care less about the $5 so no worry's but yea ive seen this exact problem a couple times now on some honda
Usually OBD0 Tho so i guess they just get old...
Ive actually herd they dont really go bad exactly..they just somehow lose the soulder on the connections inside the relay and wear out... Shrug*
Good luck
Also i suggest running to a junkyard (if ya got one near by) and pulling almost ANY hondas Relay since its easy then pocket it lol...so if were wrong its no real loss...then you can test it and problem solved
