Default Sticky Moonroof when sliding open, how to fix?

i have a 93 civic coupe with a moonroof. when it is closing it works fine, but when it opens, it begins to shake its way back til it stops. I tried adding a lubricant to the track, but it didn't help. I was thinking of taking the glass / bracket out to clean the track, but i have no idea on how to do this.

How do i fix this?

You must realign the tracks to fix this problem, one is just a tad bit farther back than the other.

this is true...but try this first...may save you some effort...grease the tracks more. open and close it a few times and see if that helps...it could just be binding.

WHITE LITHIUM. Must use a GRASE Vs a product like WD-40

I have never "realigned the Roof" Just applied some grease every 6-8 months as needed. My roof just kinda shuttered when I was opening it and I applied the grease and works like a CHARM

in my case, it looks as though as dirt has gotten in the track. this may be the reason why it is sticking.
i cleaned the part which i can get at, but section of the track that is making it do this is covered by the glass, do you think that the lubricant will still work, or should i try to clean this section as well?

clean it out and lube it with grease. not wd40, or silicone, but old fashioned grease.

mine was doing the same thing. Some of that white lithium grease fixed the binding but I still have to give it a little push sometimes to get it started opening. I tried wd40 but it didnt work

Open the roof and then wipe the rubber down with some Armour ALll or something like that. Mine has done this too and I used Black Magic and it hasn't done it since.

The problem with the "Spray on" Silicone or WD-40 is that it is just too thin to maintain. It acctually breaks down the GREESE that is on there from the factory. If you have ever looked at it, It's like ear wax in color and consistency. White Lithium grease is very good as an alternative. Clean the tracks and re apply the GREASE nice thick grease if you can find a silicone grease then that is good also.

I used to use this stuff on my bike (mountain bike) it was white but it would separate if it sat for a while you had to shake it up for a few Min and once it was mixed you applied it to the gears on the bike and it would not fling off when you road even when you went through the mud and water.

I hope it works for you cause your problem sounds like it's off track if the roof only opens a crack.

With mine I had to push it up and then it went back fine just shaking and once I applied the grease and Black Magic then it was fine. good luck
