Default Stick with my y8, or use my spare PnP'd z6?

Alright guys, just as the title says. Should I keep my stock flowing y8 head on, or slap on my PnP'd w/3 angle valve job'd z6 head that was done by JG Engine Dynamics? I know that the flow would supposedly be better with the z6, but if I dont plan on upping my compression anytime soon, will I have a net loss due to the lower compression, or would I see gains due to the better flow? Thanks!

I would go with the z6 head. Hell 1.0 cr is only worth 10hp, and the improved head flow should be worth close that that anyway. How much does it drop the CR exactly?? You can always thin the headgasket out to help CR also.

then what would be the point if you arent gaining anything?

Because later on he can up the CR back to where it was and have a better flowing head. That will always help.

My question exactly....if I lose around 10hp with the loss of compression, but gain 10hp with the extra flow, what's the point of the head?

But what if later on is a while from now, what would be the point of all the work to put on this head that will not really gain me anything?

Then probobally not. Not unless you plan to boost in the near future. Just hang onto the Z6 head and put it on when you get your N/A work done or just before you move on to boost.

I have, Supra Twin and a 911 Turbo. It's cool I guess, but my car will never be in their league, especially not without swapping my motor, and Im not doing that for a loooong time.

Heh, yea, my best friend has a Tercel that's getting the starlet turbo swap put into it. For a car that weighs 2000lbs by the skin of its teeth, its gonna smoke me ....a tercel....

Put the z6 head on and clay for clearances. If you have enough, go ahead and then deck the z6 head some to match the compression of the y8 head. I only suggest shaving off the z6 head if you don't feel you'll want to go back to a more stock compression. The other format would be to look around for a thinner headgasket for at least a little bump in comp.
